Oh!!! What a great question, after seeing this question, it makes me ask myself also that am I also corrupt? Before I proceed, let me start with some introduction of corruption.

What is corruption?

Corruption can be view as a dishonest and a fraudulent conduct which is secretly performed or openly performed due to the influence of power over people and it is also typically an involvement in bribery and scandal.

Sometimes it is left to everyone to ask themselves that are they also performing what corruption is what about? This make me go down the drain by mentioning what could lead to corruption.

WHAT CAN LEAD TO / CAUSE CORRUPTION

It has become an habit for people in every aspect to always find themselves engage in any sort of obtaining power, influence and other personal gains through an illegal or unconscious means, and these is caused due to some measures such as:

Poverty- Corruption is mostly fuelled by poverty whereby people will lack basic needs and these cause most people to try corrupt practices in order to fit to high standard of living

Weak Government – This is also a lightening fuelled to corruption whereby government in power failed to thrive which mostly causes much delay to budgets and supplies. You will start filling out some different corrupt officers in power.

Greed – This is actually common in every part of the world and not only in Africa it is when desire for accumulation of wealth arise, it becomes widespread, then corruption is been breed.

Illiteracy – This happen when numbers of educated persons are 85% much than the uneducated ones in the society, these will give them the most say and they mostly be able to hold the uneducated one to account and they will have high hand in demanding transparency of the rule of law.

Unemployment

Self-Satisfaction and more………………

In Africa, people are been noted to be high class corruption rulers. In my country we call them the ( oga at the top of corruption) Smile………….

These are list of most people who engage in corruption in Africa

Local officials

International Officials

Educational programmers

Government

Ruling party

I will also mention individuals (it is left for you to prove not to be corrupt)

and many more………….

CORRUPTION HAPPENS IN DIFFERENT AREAS SUCH AS

Corruption in politics

Corruption in Universities and colleges

Corruption in the disciplinary forces

Corruption in football

Corruption in religious places (let me call it institution because that what people view it as )

Corruption in form of internet fraud

Corruption in the custom service

and lastly, corruption in our mind

So due to the question asked, wanting to know the view of corruption in Africa, I will rather answer that due to our self-satisfaction, people and government wanting to fight corruption are fighting against it in a pointless way which include:

ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW GOVERNMENT MINISTRY/ AGENCY

Taken Nigeria for example (forgive me Nigerians) for example: Many agency has been created to point these agencies such as EFCC, SARS but in proving some point, these agencies have done nothing but to hide or shift the problem to another sector. Even to some part where SARS(Special Anti-Robbery Squad) have been using the power granted to them to their self-satisfaction where they harass the youth (individual) claiming they are internet fraudsters or some other else. I even notice an action where the officer has to break the identity card on one youth who proclaimed to be a student. This situation has continued to leave a deep seated roots to the problem of corruption not been or really addressed.

THE WASTE OF MONEY AND RESOURCES ON GUNS AND ARMS IN EFFORT OF FIGHTING CORRUPTION

Pardon me, I will also use Nigeria as an example. Though it happens in different countries around the global world but since I am also a Nigerian, I will rather use a truth witnessing point. Nigeria as a country has really gone through these pointless way to tackle corruption with the buying and importation of guns and arms but these has not really proved to be a problem solver but for self-satisfaction where some corrupt officials in charge of guns and arms secretly sell them out to individual and groups who engage in robbery and such ungodly acts. Take for the case of Boko haram happening, I will want to be sure that no other else than the politicians and government officials are in-charge of the people providing arms for the gangs.

In conclusion, I would rather say it through my view staging that corruption in Africa is far from being cured. Though we got lies and try to find people that can conduct this task of fighting corruption, but corruption in my own word is like the mouth, no matter how filled the stomach is, the mouth will still ask for more. Meaning that no matter how corruption is being filled people will still keep feeding with more.
