Not sure about the US, but in Canada people and corporations are the same thing as far as the law is concerned.
From the Interpretations Act definitions section:
person, or any word or expression descriptive of a person, includes a corporation; (personne)
So are calls to raise taxes on corporations a call to raise taxes on people without anyone realizing? Who knows.
Many (or most) "laws" are based in ignorance, just like the ones which consider humans and corporations as the same thing ("legally").
