Communication is nothing without action. The profound difference

In Italy, the Prime Minister, who was followed by the President of the Republic, more than 14 days after the start of the Coronavirus emergency, had to go on TV to unified networks, to try to explain and calm the population, at this crucial moment in the war on the virus and in view of the forthcoming introduction of new, more restrictive measures to contain it.

At the same time in China, without too much emphasis, the Chinese media instead sent the following message: Target 0 cases of contagion by the end of March in Hubei. (the Chinese red zone with capital Wuhan)

Message that follows that of the previous days of waiting for a new peak of infection in Wuhan by mid-March.

I already see your smiles and comments: all propaganda, and yes, but go there!

Far beyond a simple communication, the message contains a clear objective (0 contagions) and a definite time (end of March). A usual way around here to deal with problems.

In addition, it contains some sub-messages that highlight the profound difference compared to the Italian approach on the same problem:

• we want to eradicate the virus and we must not allow it to disappear by itself (only to see it return in the Autumn).
  Translated, we do not intend to wait for the heat to help us. The virus must be made to disappear again when it is beautiful in health and with our means and methods.

• an internal and international message: the country will be in the right conditions from the beginning of April to be able to accelerate and thus start recovery after the stop & go created by Coronvirus.

• a general reputational message: from April China intends to be the first Coronavirus Free country in the world.

All important messages both in terms of international country credibility and to start a second large-scale operation of Knowledge Transfer with the other countries that are presumed to have not yet emerged from their emergency.

So much so that the Chinese media is given for imminent the arrival in Italy of the Chinese guru Dr. Zhong who defeated SARS in 2003 and now 80 years old was called to defeat the Coronavirus (which should not be forgotten is a close relative of the same SARS)

But above all it is a message of the end of the hostilities and the war that the country has engaged since the end of January with this virus.

A message without frills that seems to presage for many a real return to normalcy and mission achieved.

In particular for the tens of thousands of doctors, infirmaries and soldiers who had been moved to Hubei from all over the country. As well as for their families, involved in spite of themselves in the incredible contrasting effort on the field in recent months.

The beginning of a new phase that will be expected to be wary and very careful in order to prevent in any way the repetition of what has just happened.

And we want to settle for beating the virus because it is he who will go away in the heat? For having it endemic for the next few years?
