With Youtube it isn't QUITE as bad as that but it is bad enough. If someone files a copyright strike against you, you can file a counter claim. Then the claimant has so many days to prove they own the copyright (not sure what they have to provide). If they don't, then your video is restored. The part that sucks is that if someone files 3 or more strikes then your account is suspended so you basically lose access to your account and all your videos until the counter claim is processed and the requisite number of days has passed. I definitely advise everyone to download all of their videos if they don't already have them backed up. If your account does get suspended then you lose access to ALL of your videos, not just the ones for which a copyright strike was filed.
