Though it's not your typical fishing trip for the boys it is still plenty of fun! It's not just for the guys either! In fact it's hugely popular with couples, young women and groups of friends and families alike!

How it works

First up check out the menu and read over the instructions the restaurant has kindly written up about how the fishing here works. It's pretty simple. You pay 100 yen and get some bait and a fishing rod and you're ready to start fishing.
Ready, Set, Fish!

If you've never been fishing before don't fret, the staff here will help you put the bait on the hook and show you what to do. Just drop a line in the water and gently move the bait around to mimic a live shrimp!

Waiting...

Now depending on how lucky or unlucky you are, you could be waiting up to 15 minutes to snag your catch but the thing a lot of people like about it is you never know when the fish will bite... so you could wait a little longer too. Order some appetizers and drinks to start and you can't go wrong. It will definitely be worth the wait though - catching your own dinner is actually cheaper than just ordering it off the menu so... keep on fishin'!

Bam! You've struck a lucky one and hooked a nice big seam bream! Nice job!

Don't lose it now!

Be careful some the fishies are pretty athletic and will fight to get off the hook! Get one of your friends or the staff to help you fish it out with the nets provided.

Choose your own cooking style

Now that you've safely caught your own fish it's time to decide how you would like it cooked. Each fish can be cooked and prepared several different ways. Today we caught a red snapper so are going to get half prepared as sashimi and half deep-fried.

I've been fishing plenty of times but I've never actually prepared anything on the spot... This is as fresh as it gets!

A few minutes later...

Literally a few minutes later you're fresh catch is sliced up and prepared on a beautiful platter! Just look at that!

Make sure you book in advance!

One thing to remember here is to book in advance! Zauo is super popular and places fill up quick, so plan ahead and go fishin'!
