Substitute regular fries for Sweet Potato garlic fries!
You may be asking yourself if sweet potatoes are better than regular potatoes. According to an online source:
What science really shows: White potatoes and sweet potatoes have complementary nutritional differences; one isn't necessarily better than the other. For instance, sweet potatoes have more fiber and vitamin A, but white potatoes are higher in essential minerals, such as iron, magnesium, and potassium.
So basically limit your intake of any carb-y food for a balanced diet. For an alternative to the white potato, try this sweet potato garlic fries recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1-2 sweet potatoes
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 5-7 cloves of chopped garlic
- salt and garlic powder to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cut the sweet potatoes lengthwise
Put cut pieces in clean dry bowl. Toss with olive oil.
Add spices to taste and garlic. Toss all together incorporating all the ingredients.
Place your fries on a prepared baking sheet.
Bake until brown and crisp on the bottom, about 15 minutes, then flip and cook until the other side is crisp, about 10 minutes.
Serve hot as a side dish to complete any meal!
