Out of curiosity, where did you find that Greenland has a "much greater surface area than Australia"? According to Google, Australia has a surface area of 2,970,000 square miles, whereas Greenland has a surface area of 836,300 square miles...so, Greenland is roughly 3 times smaller than Australia! If you were basing your sizes from a map, make sure you look into the problems with the Mercator projection map that we all know/use all the time! ;-)

An interesting tidbit, New Zealand may actually be on its own continent. It is submerged and called Zealandia. Though, its not widely accepted as such, but there is a decent scientific case for it. More here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zealandia#Classification_as_a_continent
