HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN CONTEST NO. 13
The theme of this week is 'Greenery'. Please remember that Greenery is a wider theme and includes plants, tree's, forests, grass and small plants and even crops if they are green. Please note that Flowers are not considered as Green.
It's pretty simple to participate, just take a picture of Greenery post it along with a description of the picture such as when and where did you took the picture, the name of the plants, tree's etc.

Pay attention to the following rules. Any of the "rule not followed" may disqualify your entry from the contest.
- Resteem and Upvote this post
- Title of the post should contain, "Tpot Contest No. 13"
- The post must contain at least 5 lines/rows of words (explaining the image).
- Provide the LINK to your post in the comments section to this post along with your Bitshares account. If you don't have a Bitshares account then register here.

This is such a good contest and I will revisit this to post my entry. I have a question though about the rules of upvoting. Is it considered spam if that is one requirement?

I think this is a decentralized community and only the community should decide what is a spam and what is not. And the community does that often very actively. This is not spam neither abuse, as people does it willingly. No one can just come up and define something as spam. I am not sure when did they updated that though...
However, I will create an exception for those who consider it as spam/abuse or anything else, should not upvote or resteem and mention as such in the comments.

I was thinking that if that was the only particular requirement that the contest was asking for and the earnibg is for the author's personal gain without distributing it to others.
It's not just the only requirements. As you can see there are more to that and thoroughly mentioned in the Rules section.
We have hosted 13 contest so far. And distributed almost 30 Dollars each post. Neither of ours posts has made even 6 dollars (accept for this one where I have used bots on) so where's the question of 'authors personal gains'?
We have distributed 10x more than we earn it, and you can see that in ours posts.
I did not mean this contest ☺ i was referring to spammers and abusers in my previous comment that is if an author hosts a contest with just the requirement of upvote then that would be spam. Maybe that was what the FAQ was referring to. Sorry for not being clear☺
I can't vouch for others but the sole purpose of our hosting the contest is to get the community involved. We are over 730+ Discord Members and we need something to keep our members engaged within the community while earn a few rewards. Contests is just one of those initiatives.
I would still not call them spam/abuse. As being here for a while, there's more important abuse related issues and 99.99% of them is performed by the very own people who runs this platform or consider themselves as leaders.
Let's just be clear about one thing and that is 'Upvotes' are integral part of this community and every one desires it. I would be lying if I say I don't. We do, but we return more than what we get. Because we see value in it for long term.
Contests are what makes steemit more engaging, interesting and gives the minnows a chance to stay here.
Tpot contests solely supports Green, Plants, Tree's and the raw beauty out there that otherwise would rust in your hard disks and no one would ever come to know about...
I understand your point, but I won't call them a spam/abuse. As long as, it's a cause they are supporting and something that truly makes this world even better. This is the least anyone can do.
Thanks for understanding. I get that too that upvotes are necessary because it is where we can get additional payment from contests. I was thinking of doing a contest as well. I saw this FAQ rule commented in another's post but I forgot to follow up with that and I remembered it so I thought I would ask it here since I am interested in joining this contest. Indeed contests are fun and engaging. I appreciate contests too because it is a big help especially to us who are just new here in this platform.
Usually abuse or spam is when it contains multiple offences on that list, requiring votes allows got him to afford to do contest and get noticed to add fairness and diversity. So technically no. It’s not abusive when youtake rewards into account and hes not doing it every single day. Or over taking from the reward pool.
Indeed. The FAQ should be more specific about that certain rule.
Faqs are like road signs on a decentralized network. If you abuse yhe network too much whales will police you,If you abuse the speed limit a little you probably wont get pulled over but if your driving a Bugatti 195 in a school zone you will get punished.
