Notch knew the consequences of not guarding his Pride with ferocity. However, he also knew his time of control would soon be over. He could hear the roar of other young lions parading the frontiers of his border seeking to take over his Pride. Notch had a brother who had abandoned him and the Pride. Notch knew if he did not defend his territory all the lionesses will abandon him and he will definitely be without a Pride roaming the forest. So he decided to search for a stray lion who could be an ally to protect his Pride and share in the mating rights. His determined efforts soon bore fruits as a lion who had just lost his Pride came into his territory, Notch’s ferocity and guile enabled him to bring this interloper into a pact with him and together they were able to outwit the strong but inexperienced young lions patrolling the landscape. With Notch showing no signs of aggression against this newcomer, other Pride members soon accepted him into the group. Notch thus seemed to know that a stitch in time saves nine. And he had the opportunity to hold on to his Pride much longer.
