Win a guaranteed minimum of 2SBD by upvoting this post and leaving a comment. It's free, fun and easy! I'll even pay 3 SBD to upvote bots to make the prize more interesting. We'll select the winner automatically after 24 hours. You can view all our past lotteries, winners and payments on our website. Myself and all bots are of course excluded from participation!

The rules are super easy:

  1. Upvote this post
  2. If you're new, introduce yourself
  3. Complete today's assignment: tell me your favorite local specialty and why you like it so much

Unbelievable, I've been doing this for 2 weeks already! You'd think I don't have anything better to do with my time, but as long as it's fun I'll keep doing it :) And yes, today's assignment is a lot like yesterday's, but I just really enjoyed talking about cheese...

Hi @svosse... This is another good one - (getting to know people)... I cant say there is anything remarkable about the food where I live, in fact if I want good eats in my area, I have to really hunt for them. The one thing my part of the world is most famous for though is relaxation (and retirement)...

Never been to your part of the world but I'd love to visit one day. Maybe when I'm 80 :)

My favorite local specialty is running because I have been running all my life.

Isn't it a bit too hot for that where you're from?

I like pani poori.....😍😍 its so tsty specially of my area....

Just googled it and indeed it looks great :)

Aside from Adobo, I'll go with Pork Sinigang. The sour taste of sinigang plus the yummy pork. yum

Hmm that one looks like a soup. I even saw one pic with strawberries in it, which is a rather interesting combination with pork. Maybe I should try it one day...

So I live in San Francisco and we have no original food. We have some stuff tho.

Based near SF

They don’t make food. But on the bright side it sounds like a food. And a lot of people use it.
It’s is the world famous “food” from my local area

Lol very famous indeed!

Yep the world knows this “food”

Never been a huge fan of pasta myself, but definitely love shrimps!

I live in the Finger Lakes and we have an amazing wine country here.

That's up North, isn't it? I never knew you grow wine there!

No Filipino would disagree when I say that adobo is probably the easiest to cook but the tastiest among all local dishes. The meat used is usually pork or chicken and the sauce is made from vinegar, soy sauce, pepper, and lots and lots of garlic. It’s my favorite local dish because it can be cook in a lot of different ways and each household would have their own version aka secret recipe.

Sounds delicious! Thank you sharing that with us :)

It's like a stew, isn't it?

Yes, it’s like a stew.

I am also a Filipino and I agree that Adobo is the best local food that we have, and it's my favorite too! but since most of the guys here mentioned it already. I would just tell my second favorite local dish, it's Pork Kaldereta. Image posted below is not mine. But just want to give you an idea how it looks. ;) It's super delicious specially when spicy! ;) <3

makes me hungry too. lol!

The local speciality I like the most is potato cheese (free translated). Usually the bavarian kitchen is very meat-sided, but I am a vegetarian so this is my choice. For this dish you need cooked, mashed potatoes with some fine cut onions. Mix it with sour cream, salt, pepper and some herbs you like. This dish is served as a thick layer on a slice of bread or with pretzels. Add some radishes, and here we go: I am hungry again ;)

Sounds great! What's the name in German?

It´s called Kartoffelkäse. But as you have seen, the name is misleading.
