🎃 Halloween Pumpkin Carving - Tuesday Orange - Plus an Upcoming Contest Announcement
I'm a fan of carving fun or scary faces into pumpkins for Halloween each year. Not too worry, we clean, roast and eat the seeds from them so it's not a total waste of food, and all that jazz.
My 2-Faced Jack-o-Lantern from last year (2016) with the Full Moon.
🎃Upcoming Contest Announcement
As many of you know by now, I am also a big fan of the contests and community challenges here on Steemit and have taken part in many of them since joining. With that, I have decided to put together my first contest in the spirit of Halloween.
It will be a fun traditional pumpkin carving contest that will run the week before Halloween (Monday October 23-30).
This gives you about 2 weeks to think of ideas before the contest's official announcement post is put up. DO NOT POST ENTRIES YET!
👉 It will have to be a new carving from this year with proof work and your Steemit name on it, so no random pics from the internet!
📜 The official contest announcement, rules, and prizes ( it will be well worth your time and effort ) will be posted on Monday October 23, so if you're not already, be sure to follow me so you don't miss out.
Last year we carved from templates my son saw in the supermarket.
We usually carve from our own crazy ideas, but last year my son was finally old enough for me to trust him using the carving tools to help so we went the template route for his first time. He helped me carve the mouth on one side, then after realizing the amount of effort it took decided to watch me do the rest. :-)

💡Carving Tip: It's better to cut the access hole in the bottom, not the top, as you see most people do. This make it easy to lift and move by the "natural handle" and to light or remove the candle you just lift it up for easy access. No awkward hand-burning moments trying to set the candle inside.

those are some pretty creepy, yet pretty cool evil pumpkin designs, all at the same time! lol
Thanks Alex! I'm going to try to even take it up a notch a bit more this year. Especially since I will do the contest - I need a great new example.
What a fun contest...looks like I need to get me some pumpkins!
BRING IT ON! 😁
I'm working on the details and rules for it. The prizes will include SBD and mostly likely a mix of sponsored tokens.
Good work! I've never carved pumpkin.
Thank you Kalemandra :-) We have fun with it and eat the seeds so it's not totally wasted.
nice tip on cutting form the bottom, and I just found you so following and upvoting you as well
🌞 Thank you Johnny! Yeah, the bottom works out a lot better - and keeps a clean looking top too.
These are awesome pumpkins! I appreciate the carving tips.
🎃 Thank you! This year I will do freehand again - no templates.
That's pretty remarkable!
