LIQUID BLACK GOLD

I never thought I was ever going to do a contest in steemit, not until I started seeing the image of discussion on @steemit-virus for this week on my group chat.. I couldn't help it but give it a try because is a normal thing in the part of Nigeria I come from. 

Nigeria is a blessed country endowed with so many natural resources. Fortunately for me, I'm also a Nigerian, proud indigene of Okrika, a local government in Rivers state located in the Niger delta region.

Despite this God given resources, Nigeria still face various challenges like oil theft, illegal refinery and pipeline vandalism which happens mostly in Niger delta. This problems carried out mostly by the Niger delta youths has brought a great downfall in our national economy because this same crude oil (liquid black gold) contributes about 75percent of government revenue and 90percent of export earnings. 

**In efe's voice:** base on logistics, Niger delta is supposed to be like small dubai in terms of socio-economic development, high level of employment and youth empowerment but the reverse happens to be the case.  **Lets compare two citizens in a region rich with this same crude oil.**  

An average Dubai youth, look at what he has achieved at this is young age

Ironically speaking, Niger delta remains the most neglected. Let's take oloibiri in Bayelsa as an example. That was the first place oil was discovered in Nigeria in the year 1956. But go to the community now, is so terrible. An average oloibiri man is looking like an Hiroshima victim. 😂 😂 ... 

Exploration of oil and gas in the Niger Delta by this various oil drilling companies has polluted the air, land and the seas making the environment unsuitable to live, reducing life span rate and contributing to economic hardship.

It's not a new thing that virtually all the youth experiences poverty in the Niger delta region enriched with the same oil that contributes 75 - 90 percent resources. Unfortunately in Niger delta quest to partake in "national cake" as it is popularly called, the youths have Now over reacted by carrying weapons, bombing of oil well etc. 

Judging from the picture above , there are two factors that can generate such large explosion. 

1. **Pipe vandalism / oil theft aka bunkery**

Most of the major explosion of oil well has been orchestrated by different groups like M. E. N. D,  Niger Delta Avengers, MASSOB, MOSSOB etc due to unfulfilled promises by the government and several oil companies located within that regions. 

Most times when the pipeline conveying this crude oil is been vandalised by the groups and they are through feeling up there various badges with the crude, they abandon it like that allowing the crude to litter everywhere. Instead of people to run away, they rush to there house to get drums to pack there own share as well. (How we go do... All na hussle). A major fire outbreak in such incident, almost wiped half of the community. It was a sorrowful day for the people.

2. **Illegal refinery aka kpo-fire**

This is another situation that can lead to such fire outbreak as shown in the image above. Most of this stolen crude oil is taken to this illegal refinery which is always situated in the creeks. Due to the lack of adequate materials, just 20 percent of this crude oil is been refined the other is just wasted. What results to the fire out break is the highly corrosive and faulty materials been used to refined the crude.
