A Beautiful Lie

She was attracted to her dad's fiance. There was no denying it. The lady was beautiful and kind and only a few years older than her. She did not mind the fact that her dad was marrying again. He had been alone after her mother had left them all. It had taken a lot of years for her dad to come around and accept the fact that her mom would not return.

She grew up quickly yet was different from them all. She tried hard to fit into the crowd but her life was a beautiful lie. She had to pretend that she was attracted to boys just like her friends. She had to pretend that she admired the handsome guys around. When her girlfriends would talk about dates, she would pretend not to hear and feel lost. She tried to think of consulting a doctor but the society would smell it and her life would be nothing short of hell.

Life went on till the lady arrived. Her dad's fiance. She could not bear to live in the same house. She decided to move out. Her dad was surprised and upset but his fiance understood. She looked her straight into the eyes and smiled, knowingly.

She left, happy knowing that at least one person realized that her life was not a lie.
