Another huge thanks to everyone who participated in week 3 of the trivia contest by submitting answers, upvoting, commenting, resteeming, or following me.   • It’s time to test your classic Sci-Fi movie knowledge. Near the beginning of this movie, a group of friends are seen playing a Tabletop RPG, and being pestered by one of the players’ little brother, who really wants to join the game. The group decides to let the little brother play as long as he orders pizza and waits for the pizza delivery guy. What is the name of this movie?

  • I was inspired by some recent crypto quizzes to try something a little different with this question. This will help you figure out the cipher and the key to get you started down the path to the final answer. Just remember, Winter is Coming!

  • A fish from the Tetraodontidae family is a hint that the hexidecimal string is text encrypted with a Blowfish cipher
  • The King in the North is John Snow, and his mother is Lyanna Stark. The key for the Blowfish cipher is Lyanna.

  • Decrypting the cipher then gives you the text:
    • To decrypt this letter salad, identify this Boston ballad.
    • itsssl.com r6l8Q
  • “Letter salad” is a clue to use a Caesar Cipher to decode the message.
  • “Boston ballad” is the song Amanda by Boston
  • itsssl.com/r6l8Q is a password protected URL that leads you to a Google Doc with the next clue encoded with a Caesar Cipher.

  • Once you figure out the password to get to the Google Doc is "Amanda", you see the text:
    • Aol mpuhs huzdly av aopz xblzapvu pz zvun upulallu vu aol qbrlive. sG0XMtgs1rd”
    • Get lucky with that shift!

  • The illegible text is encoded with a Caesar Cipher
  • “Get lucky with that shift!” is a clue that the shift amount for the cipher is “lucky number” 7
  • Once you decode the Caesar Cipher text, you get the final clue:
    • The final answer to this question is song nineteen on the jukebox. lZ0QFmzl1kw

  • lZ0QFmzl1kw is a YouTube video ID. You can simply search Google for the ID and the YouTube video is the first link. It’s the music video for Song for Another Time by Old Dominion.
  • The final answer is song 19 seen on the Jukebox, which is “Great Balls of Fire” by Jerry Lee Lewis

Sort:  

Finding an online Blowfish decrypter that would work properly: almost 6 days.
Plowing through the rest of question 4 up to the final clue: about 15 minutes.
Getting tripped up by a 0 and a 1: price timeless. :P
