This is a handsome tree, which grows slowly and produces strong and close-grained wood, widely used to make flooring and furniture. It has yellow or silver curly bark. As this tree ages it loses its colour somewhat, becoming darker and more ragged. This tree agressively seeds into openings in the forest, new trees often start life on the stumps or trunks of fallen trees. As they grow their roots begin to reach for the ground. Many years later, when the dead tree has completed decomposed, this tree is left standing on legs. Rules of the contest:
