Terrific short story, really puts you in the protagonist's position with the choppy confusing sentences evoking the confusion of regaining consciousness after the blast. Also a really nice short summary of the history and importance of Remembrance Day / Vetaran's Day. I also think it is important to remember the past and learn from it. I pray for a day without war in the future. Very happy to have found you tonight, following you and looking forward to more great posts. Pretty impressed with the variety of your posting, the digital renders are really great as well!

Cheers - Carl

Thanks Carl, really appreciate the comments. It's good to hear that you felt the confusion and that it came across that way. Exactly what I was going for. I hope to get back to some more renders, soon. It's abit of an outlet. Followed you back as well. I'll be checking out the humanbot curations too. Looks like a cool project.

Haven't actually started the @humanbot Steemit Wayback Machine post series yet, you are actually the first one of those comments I have left :) But do check out the @humanbot Curator Incubator and Link Drop - there have been some really quality and undervalued posts dropped off there in the comments. Cheers - Carl

I will for sure. Great idea.

Great story @jasonbu! I feel I got a taste of the confusion-dread of a soldier wounded in combat. Not a place I would want to endure. Also exemplifies the selflessness of a leader concerned more with the welfare of one of his men. Also enjoyed the following real life story you showed us (Soldiers acknowledging young boy patiently waiting to show his support) very touching. I pray for a time none will have to endure the scene you describe above. Great job!

Thanks, @trishlarimer. As I mentioned that video, for some reason, really brings up a lot of emotions for me... Each time I watch it.

I love this story. It's very powerful and intense and an important reminder of what soldiers everywhere have been through and are going through to try to protect the rest of us.

Thanks, @bek-dk. Remembrance day is special. We always have to remember that behind the rough stoic facade is someone, that in most cases, volunteered to do what they do. A father or mother, a brother, a sister, son or daughter. No one volunteers for service thinking that they would be the one to die or be maimed. It's in the back of your mind but you stow it thinking, not me. It will always be someone else. This is a tribute to those someones.

Highly realistic. I almost thought this was an autobiographical snippet, so genuine are the details and dialogue. Have you been in a situation like that, and if not, where did you get the language and interplay from?

Thanks, @negativer. Thankfully no. I drew on some experience as I did some platoon level sigs, way back. At that time we just called up the chain or cmd for a medevac, if available. We had a few incidents that we walked away from but that was all. Peacekeeping deployments were very different beasts. My time was before the 9 liner and MIST reports for calling in a medevac. I worked that in to be more current.

This is really beautiful and touching, @jasonbu. Thank you for all the additional information and links, as well.

Thanks, @jayna. Appreciate the comment. I'm sure there are more organizations out there that help. These links are more general.
