Shary's writing prompt contest #4 BLESSING IN DISGUISE
It was a beautiful Monday morning, the sound of the alarm clock Tickles me… I had to set an alarm because before I leave for work I needed to feed the kids and drop them off at school, so to get this all done I needed to wake up really early. Half awake I dragged myself to the bathroom to pee and also brush my teeth and just after that I went straight to the kids room to wake them up… waky waky… it's time to wake up my little cup cakes,my two daughters mean the world to me since the death of their father and I have always tried my possible best not to make them feel his absence, everyday I dress them up, feed them and also drop them at school before heading to the office.
Mom what time is it? My eldest daughter said with a low voice… this was her way of saying she needed more time to sleep, it's 6am my princes I replied… you know mommy has to go to work very early so please get up and make that happen for me my champ… just as she led her sister to the bathroom I dashed for the kitchen to prepare some breakfast for the kids with the idea that when they are done they would eat while I get myself prepared.
All dressed and ready to leave I noticed a food stain on my skirt so I rushed in to make a quick change but this time wearing a skirt I had initially rejected. The skirt was really tight and sometimes felt uncomfortable but I couldn't waste any more time so I had to settle for that as I drove to my daughters schools.
I was able to beat the traffic and get to my daughters school at exactly 7.30am and was due for resumption at 8am with just a 20 minutes drive between me and my office as I hurriedly escorted my kids to the school gate and kissed them goodbyes. I went back to my car and drove as fast as I could back to the office and just as I was about to get down from my car I heard a sound… errrrr….omg...i hope this is not what am thinking… my skirt had just torn, I couldn't believe what had just happened because this means I would have to drive home and change my skirt for a third time and also getting late for my meeting at the office. Reluctantly I drove all the way back home and few yards to my house I saw a man wearing a mask entering my house through the window, my house was been robbed, a feeling of fear swept through my spine as I made for my phone to call the police and alert them of the intruder in my house… few minutes later the police arrived and the thief was apprehended and I just had to put a call through to the office to notify them of the incident and that I would be taking the day off to sort things through at home and with the police. Sometimes life takes a surprising twist and it is not all that bad...what a dramatic morning it has been,funny as it may seem I was actually glad I wore that skirt.
