It will give upvotes on every post you make. The more @steembasicincome shares you have, the bigger the upvote will be also depending on your amount of posts. When you buy a share you are forced to sponsor someone and give half of it away. I think I have 8 shares myself now which gives a daily 0.08$ upvote.

It will probably take some days after the steem is send, but you will get a message from them saying you got sponsored once you are on their list.
