Shortform and Creativity Writing (SCW) Contest 7; Comment Content Reward for 10sbd
It has been amazing this past week. If you would notice,my blog has been quite busy. I have been posting, commenting, upvote and very chatty on steemit chat and discord.
The simple reason is, steemit is very addictive and I have been less busy with other work.
I wrote something interesting on my blog about "when we love" here. Actually, that wasn't a poem, It was from my heart to someone i feel that way about. Its me being me and real
To the contest for the week.
I like to try new things. This week I am trying out something new for the contest. I feel it is going to be interesting but, I would like your opinion. If it doesn't go well, I would not continue with it. It is about "Rewarding you for commenting about the topic."
Would like to call this;
Comment Content Reward Contest.
@surpassinggoogle is our judge for this week. We all know he got his hands full with "untalented" contest here.
By the way, if you have not participated, You should, because everybody wins, unlike mine...lol.
while I was having a chat with him about the topic for this contest, he said
"Well everybody wins"
Which means, as long as you participate, you win something. Makes it more interesting right?
The contest is something easy. It is easy to participate and we will all enjoy it. I know many who will participate, not because they want to win but they just want to make it fun and interesting.
Please be kind to indicate if you participating for fun and make this lively for me, so the judge will not pick you. smile.
This is indeed a tough one. In answering this question i will come from two perspective.
First perspective: Community building.
Having this in mind, it is the sole aim that any opportunity to bring in new members would be welcome. So to increase the base and world wide usage of the social media, the platform needs newbies.
Second Perspective: The money.
Now with the influx of newbies here, comes the distribution of few resources to more people. This sometimes does not bold well.
For instance, when i joined the platform, i had tales of some post making over $10,000. This was predicated on the fact that the resources were more shared for few persons.
Humans are self focus, most people would not want to share their status of wealth with others because they want it all for themselves.
The obvious fact is the payout of most whales post that hardly crosses the $500 mark. Imagine what more people will do to the amount of the money earned, more reduction to accommodate others.
So if it is for the payout, we are already saturated. But for the growth of the system, there is need for more people.
Thank you for contributing.
you are welcome
The Golden Question: Newbies on steemit, does the platform/whales/dolphins/minnow need them? How would the increase of newbies affect post payout?
I am not so familiar with the terms here on steemit because I had been here for a month! Happy monthsary to me! Yay!
As a newbie, I thought I needed platforms, whales, and minnows but then a week later, I realized that I do not. The main reason I am here is to impart lessons I learned from different people and share their stories, for short I am a story teller (which is actually quite obvious on my blog entries).
Platform/ whales/ and dolphins are quite fascinating really as the compensation is a good idea. But then again, I will go back to what I said, it is just an added bonus.
For community works such as charity, the upvotes from whales are very helpful as it will increase the fund for their activities.
Meanwhile, I would agree with what @gunneresq said, with the increasing number of people, it has become saturated causing the payouts to be divided.
I know there will be innovations to sustain steemit and make it a better place to stay at.
Yea, the beauty about the platform is that it is dynamic and changes with the thoughts and nature of the users.
at least it is not stagnated :) Kudos steemit.
Exactly
Thank you @gailbelga
Youre welcome
I am a new steemians, maybe i should study first with you, regards know me..
Your reputaion is pretty high for a new steemian. Hope you having a good stay steeming?
Increasing beginners is what makes the platform viable. If there is a thousand people here, the platform will just turn sour. But if a million - then it will never be boring. So, new people will come next.
And the second point - new people pour money in here, buying Steем's tokens to quickly gain weight. Otherwise, the price of the token will go down to zero.
Thank you for your contribution.
When I saw the topic, I immediately remembered what @stellabelle said about @surpassinggoogle one time. She said that
Other times @surpassinggoogle has reiterated that it's more important to look at
Hence :
Some whales have not even registered on the Steemit blockchian yet. They're simply sleeping giants
But what if they register and become newbies?
Here's the tricky part. It depends on the person and not the fact that he is a newbie.
It's agreeable that on the whole, newbies have so little to contribute monetarily, but I think we're deviating from the whole purpose of the blockchain if we have our minds fixed on payout only.
Some newbies have ideas that can revolutionise the whole blockchain entirely
I'd give you a simple illustration. Recently, I've gone through a couple of @surpassinggoogle 'S posts some about 8 months ago (while he was still a minnow) and I was completely amazed by his ideas. That spirit is what has brought him where he is today.
In all, my response is that it depends on the type of newbie and the vision he has on the platform. Spotting a man with vision is pretty easy. It depends on him strength of character and dedication to the Steemit is a whole.
payouts will only come as an incident of being excellent
Thank you for your contribution.

An infulux of newbies into steemit means we would have a larger community. It translates to the following.
-more posts competing for upvotes
-an higher number of people available to give upvotes (This however might not necessarily influence an increase post payout).
To minnows
It would mean more competition since there would be more posts competing for upvotes. A minnow might not get any benefit from newbies joining in on the shortrun. However there could probably be benefits for them on the longrun. How? If the newbies and minnows work hard and grow on the platform together. In the future they would be able to help each other better when their upvotes have value. To dolphins and whales
It means more followers and more upvotes but not necessarily higher posts payout for a while. The Blockchain
The growth of the newbies important to the growth of steemit. However, it must be noted that the higher you go on the blockchain, the harder it becomes to grow. This could translate to congestion at the level of minnows and redfishes. Whales however may not be really affected. It could even be profitable to them at the detriment of those at lower levels.
Generally according to the principles of economics, a growth in population must be met by an equal or higher growth in the resources available to cater for the population, otherwise natural and artificial checks on the population such as natural disasters may set in to reduce the population. In the same vein, a growth in the number of people on the steemit blockchain without a corresponding growth in the number of people with valuable upvotes would be detrimental. I propose that some check may come into place such as frustration, anger or inconsistency and this would make some people leave steemit, keeping the population minimal.
What we have to do
The only way the blockchain would benefit is if steemit grows in not only in numbers or population but also in the quality of upvotes available for the teeming population. The only way to ensure this is to invest in the platform by purchasing steem power and powering up instead of powering down. This would foster the growth of newbies and if continued, everyone would be able to make something out of steemit.
