Aggregate Piers are used as an alternative to removing soil that is inadequate to support the building's foundation- first an excavator with an auger implement drills deep holes- next the bobcat dumps aggregate in the holes working with the second excavator that compacts the aggregate layer by layer until the Piers are filled with highly compressed aggregate.
