Constrained Writing Contest #31: Experimenting The True Light

in #constrainedwriting6 years ago (edited)

Each step in the narrow and silent corridor was exhausting. It was as if every time she entered in a new door her energy was drained from her body little by little.

All the light bulbs were in the right side of the corridor were lit with the aim that there would not be a drop of darkness left to be guided and see. She was walking blindly without seeing anything around her, only knowing that if she stretched both arms she could touch the walls around her.

She stumbled again, losing count of how many times it had already happened, her head hit something she could identify by the texture like wood, another door.

She had no idea what she was doing in that unknown place, she didn't even know how long she had been there.

Hours that seemed like days and her body assimilated like months.

She was completely hungry, she couldn't remember the last time that some kind of food had been consumed by her.

She was terrified and cold, maybe it was daytime and that would explain the overwhelming cold. She was hoping to find some kind of window and if she was lucky when she would found that it would be night and she could guide herself and stop being in the darkness that surrounded.

The last thing she remembered before waking up in that place covered with light that prevented her from determining what kind of place it was, was walking in broad daylight through a partially lit alley, she knew that it was dangerous to expose herself to such an environment but knowing that it was a shortcut, she thought about saving time, it seemed like a good idea until she was approached by two subjects and then the terrifying feeling of suffocation was the key to her last memory, she probably fainted or something.

Another door with which to stumble brought her to the present. Feeling with her hands she reached the lock and managed to open it, the room was completely in shadow, her eyes blinked to get used to seeing again and she managed to distinguish two figures inside the room.

Instinctively she took a step back and the return to the terrifying illuminated corridor seemed tempting. She recognized those figures, they were only those who took her by force.

The fact that they didn't have their faces covered scared her more, that could only mean that they had not planned to let her out of there, at least not alive.

"Took you longer than we thought to get here" - One of those figures spoke with a normality and tranquility that caused her chills.

"What do you want from me?" Her trembling voice made her feel as fearful as she felt.

"Simple, it seems that someone doesn't like you very much and asked you to disappear" - His tone didn't change a bit, it was as if he was commenting on anything, not on someone's life.

"You will kill me?" - The most logical thing about where the situation was headed.

"Maybe, if you get us bored you can be sure about that" - Her shrug pays off importance to the subject.

She shifted her gaze to the other subject who only flipped through an entertainment magazine without paying attention to the conversation in front of him.

"They will look for me"

"People disappear all the time" - The last word being elongated trying to look funny, it wasn't at all.

""What I have to do then for not to bore?"* - She had to play all they cards and that seemed to attract the attention of the one with the magazine who looked up and for the first time since she entered the room he tell something.

"Do everything we say and don't try to escape" - Few words that implied a lot, that meant staying with them for a long time.

She didn't have many options and she knew that a long time ago escaped stopped being one.

"With one condition" - She didn't think she was in a position to demand but she try .

"Which one?" - Both subjects asked

"I will obey and you both will look for the person who asked you two to make me disappear"- The guy who thought himself funny smile like a Cheshire cat.

"And then what?" - He seemed genuinely interested in her response.

"Well ... People disappear all the time, right?" - The guy with the smile let out a laugh and the one in the magazine only drew a faint smile on his face.

"I think in the end you will not bore us so much, take it for granted"

Done deal. It seemed good, she would sacrifice herself and her life wouldn't be the same as before, at least she would take revenge on that person who wanted to destroy her life.

The culprit would beg for mercy and she would see to it that she was immersed in so much light that the darkness will only be a distant memory.

Interesting story indeed! Were they humans? Aliens? O: How did they make the light and dark reverse? :o So many questions! :D
Well done though. ^^

Thank you very much for your entry!

That is a mystery. Ok no xD.
Well actually take the rule as well ... rule? >. <. They're human and it's what the world would be like if it had always been that way, if the light were darkness and darkness were ligth, something like that even if the world were that way the good would still be good and the bad would still be bad, things that never change. I guess I had to express myself better, even though I had a lot of fun in this contest !! Thank you!!

Oh, I see! You've definitely given it some deep thoughts, which I like very much! :D
And yeah, some things never change. Even a change such as light/dark is only minimal when it comes to the question of morals.

I hope to see you participate again! :D And thank you! ;D

Nice to see you and I Upvoted you :) !
