Don Vito Corleone: A Story About Needless Violence

Hello here it´s my entry for Constrained Writing Contest #20. The character I choose is:

Don Vito Corleone (From The Godfather)

The Story is Titled: A Story About Needless Violence

Family is the most important thing to a man, that is what this story is all about. A long time ago a young man and his father come to this country like many immigrants do to escape the horror of their motherlands, no matter if is for the war, social problems, dictatorship or the death of the child mother it doesn´t matter, they came to America with the hope of a better life.

The father got a tiresome and brutal job in a near factory just to put food on the table. Just as many of us had do before. The kid on the other hand was always alone, without friends and his father busy all the time, he started to do what every child does in that kind of situation; make trouble and get into fight with other kids. One day the kids from the nearby neighborhood started to make fun of him because of his origin and well kids can be hurtful than adults can never become to be, the child give all the others kids a hellish beating. The next morning a group of disgusted mothers along with their husbands complain to the child´s father, the father ashamed apologize in the child´s name and promised that nothing like that will ever happen again. Later that night the father talked with the child and he say to him; “Never get into a fight without a real reason for it. Let them be ignorant and let them get full of their hypocrisy, you are the only person who knows who you really are and what do you want to be”.

After that wise words the child take the decision of staying out of the path of violence, until several days later, when the child go in trouble again with the same group of kids and by the same reasons making deaf ears of his father teachings. Later the same group of angry fathers and mothers reunite again with the father but this time instead of talk, they give the child´s father a beating like the one his child gave the other kids and now the child have to become a man of his own. The child had to took care of his father for 3 weeks until he could completely recovered but because of all that series of events the father lost his job in the factory and life only becomes more difficult for the child.

The lesson here is; a life of complete violence can hurt the ones you love the most, it only create more violence, it can get you a lot of enemies and for that it such be avoid whenever is possible, remember it.
