The Psychology Of Control: The Manufacturing Of Gang Culture & The Drug War
The Manufacturing Of Gang Culture
Perceptual Manipulation
“You want to know what this was really all about?” [Ehrlichman] asked with the bluntness of a man who, after public disgrace and a stretch in federal prison, had little left to protect. “The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

Great post mate and a subject many are afraid to touch upon.
I remember when the earliest hip hop/rap came out and liked a lot of it until it centered solely on glorifying the worst aspects of the community it was born from.
The ABC’s in the US and I suspect the U.K. have much to answer to regarding the importation and proliferation of drugs and the gangster culture that now surrounds them.
If you look through modern history whenever the government launches a ‘War on’ whether it be drugs, terror or poverty you can be sure things are going to get worse, it’s what they do....
It’s all about the enrichment of a select few and control of the masses, through division this becomes easier and a doped up, divided and dependant populace is easier to ‘herd’.
A cracker of a post as ever buddy, resteemed.
Hey @tremendospercy as always thank you for the support my friend .. hope you're well.
Yes like yourself I clearly remember when the narrative and the message changed .. indeed it occurred so quickly it was as if someone had flicked a switch. I think many of the gangsta rappers were fairly young and didn't realise that by verbalising their own anger they were feeding a culture that was destroying their communities. The record companies decided to put that type of material at the forefront and so equally the up and coming rappers felt a pressure to emulate the style and outdo each other on the shock factor .. I aso think labels whipped up beefs between various crews to gain coverage, I mean from a purely cold perhaps psychopathic perspective those shootings and deaths must have been good for business .. did 2pac & Biggie sell more albums alive or dead? It was a controlled snowball effect.
Yes I couldn't agree more .. I guess the best we can hope for is that they launch a war on peace .. then we may actually have some!!
It really saddens me how people fall for the same crap over and over again .. we must rise above it and become wise to the sick games of division and control that are being played with our lives.
Thanks again my friend
It's the current neoliberal capitalism with its forced coercion and exploitations that is at the root of this; fuelled by a Malthusian Social Darwinism built upon the complete rejection of any kind of spiritual possibility (not that these same actors don't use religion in the same way--they do). And this worldwide manipulation happening right under the noses of academia who are powerless to stop it. It's no wonder Flat Earth theory is as popular as it is (probably the same manipulators).
Anyway, The Tavistock Institute has been manipulating society via the entertainment industry for some time so the malevolence spans much more than the colored communities. From my view, all of this set up the conditions for financial amorality packaged as The American Dream in N.A.
The boots on the ground of all of this are getting much easier to assess but the spiritual component of this manipulation is still mired in murkiness and duplicity and treachery.
Awesome work!
Hey my friend, thank you for the great comment .. it's very much appreciated.
There is not much I can add to that for I feel it perfectly encapsulates the machinations behind the cohersion of society and the denigration of humanity. Many of these gang members are cold blooded killers and so it's very difficult for society to understand that they are also victims, both victims of circumstance and victims of an agenda that many will have difficulty comprehending. It has gone on for so long and become so entrenched in mainstream culture and yet the vast majority of people have no idea how it started and so I felt it a valuable story to tell.
Yes I could't agree more, every aspect of our mainstream vulture is controlled, manipulated and managed and the scary thing is the vast majority of people are completely oblivious to that fact, and you know what George Carlin said about the American Dream .. "you have to be asleep to believe it" Thanks again my friend, I will be back to reply to your comment on your other post .. it's just been one of those weeks.
You had me at Eric B & Rakim.. A masterpiece!
It is absolutely true that the gang culture and crack epidemic was partially engineered by the controllers and empire builders in gov/mil positions.
You might find this piece about an alleged meeting between the controllers of the private prison industry and some of the big names in rap at a key point in the evolution to be helpful.
Resteemed!
Thank you for the support @ura-soul I really appreciate it .. and yes that track is a genuine masterpiece and for me one of several hip hop high tide marks!
It's absolutely shocking the way these communities have been treated, used and abused and even now they seek to direct and manipulate their anger. There is much more to the story, but it was already getting lengthy so I though I would revisit certain aspects at a later date.
Thank you for pointing me in that direction, the prison industrial complex is an area I missed but as your link alludes to I think there are dark forces manipulating and indeed capitalising upon every step of this perverse game. Thanks again my friend.
And there was me thinking my newsfeed was boring, then you come along with the goodies, then there is me below 90% of my (pathetic anyway) vote power, to upvote you, then I see nobidbot in the bloody tags, and now I am left deflated - defeated and can in no way reward your efforts. hhmmmmmmmmmmmm. Fantastic post as always, and you kill it with the writing (in a good way), I wish I had an audience with the same attention span, but it is what it is.
Hey thank you my friend, Sorry I haven't been around as much this week but I've been struck down with toothache and it's been a nightmare trying to write this post! Your constant support and kind words are more than enough for me and I really appreciate it. I'm also really glad you enjoyed my work ... Thanks again @deliberator
I sent a small token of my appreciation via a bot, my bad I know, and thank you for being you, now get your teeth sorted, I had 3 fillings last week with zero injections, sure it hurt a little, though only cost £50 here. :-)
Thank you @deliberator I've now had my tooth temporarily fixed .. but I have to go back for root canal .. ouch!!
Being born in 1980, I have great memories of when rap was fun, when it told a story, there were disses but they were well thought out, and sometimes you had to think about it a bit to 'get it'. And like you said...there was TRUTH being spoken, and we were dyin' to hear it.
Music and media does change our brains if we let it, I remember enter in the mid 90's and suddenly I think women are shit. And we're calling each other ho's all the time and garbage like that came directly from the rap at that time. It became cool to degrade women, and a lot of us fell for it!
Thanks for this incredible article, I'll be sharing it in my networks. You're one of the best @perceptualflaws!
Hey @lyndsaybowes I really appreciate this heartfelt comment thank you!
Yes, the early days of rap were indeed fun .. it was fun and exciting, you never knew where they were going to take it next and I was constantly amazed by the range of their vocabulary and their linguistic acrobactics .. in musical terms they were creating new frontiers and kicking down the doors of perception and questioning dogmatic societal misconceptions.
In terms of music and media .. both music and comedy are a incredibly powerful form of propaganda, they are instigators of societal change and they are being increasingly utilised for this purpose. Like you say with youth, it's scary how maluable the mind is at that age and indeed messages absorbed by the subconscious increasingly play out in the real world. Thanks again for the great comment my friend.
You absolutely nailed it on this one. So clearly and plainly stated for all to see what happened and is continuing to unfold. This artist also perfectly encapsulated exactly what you just explained in a highly lucid and psychedelic visual animation artform. If you haven't seen In Shadow yet, I'm sure it will appeal to your enhanced powers of perception, @perceptualflaws - it's made of the exactly the same stuff that your brain is running on.

Hey my friend, thanks you for taking the time to support and read my post. It's disturbing how how proficient media has become at manipulating society .. I look around at certain people and it's as if they're puppets dangling from digital strings. Thank you for the video, I'm really looking forward to watching it .. so I'll be sure to clear a slot this weekend. In terms of weekends, I hope you have a really good one @imp.unity ... oh and friend request has now been sent :D
Yeah, it's so true. When we talk about the over-sexualization of content aimed at pre-teens and stuff like that sometimes I just like to have fun (ha-ha-ha...) reading the latest Beyonce lyrics or Nicki Minaj lyrics or Cardie B lyrics without listening to the actual songs (having never heard them)
It's actually really funny because you would think the lyrics were written by a horny 15 year old... They lack any experience, wisdom or anything like that... It's pure lower nature kind of stuff. Even a balanced 15 year old could never come up with such ridiculous content.
And yet you can hit the Vevo channels and see that these video-productions do have hundreds of millions, sometimes billions of views. (How largely these numbers are inflated just to create "buzz and hype" for the sake of deeper societal conditioning is anyone's guess...)
Still, the sad truth is that this kind of subliminal messaging is reaching previously unimaginable quantities of people, and the qualitative effect it has in programming people's perceptions of self, society and the world is indeed underappreciated by most...
You can just see it with the 14 year old girls who really do think it is cool to be a "gangsta bitch", and it's not just in the west but in so many developing parts of the world where this stuff gets pushed too...
You specifically mentioned the effect switching genders and I'm specifically mentioning young women and their icons but of course the reverse is even more powerfully so for men; who are for the most part much more vulnerable to their lower nature... Whereas women in my opinion seem to be more influenced by sound, men seem to be more influenced by sight, and the sight of dangling booties and titties and erotic kind of clothing and makeup and all of these kinds of things has been shown to completely alter our brain chemistry...
And what are we supposed to do? Not look?
Just like women are supposed to not listen to Beyonce?
It's a brave new world ^_^
Yes, definitely let me know what you think of the video. I know you will have enjoyed immensely as there will not be a single scene in the video which you will not perfectly understand and comprehend xx
I was really taken aback by it personally.

What an excellent post. It is a shame to see what music has become. Another means of control and destruction. I'm shaking my head now because it pains me each day to see the goal of the destruction of the black man. All positive leaders dead, in jail or discredited. Marcus Garvey, Malcom X, Huey Newton, Marley, King Jr. All that rise have been snuffed out with a purpose and the youth of today fail to see this.
However, there is hope for man kind. People can be killed, but not ideas. Slowly but surely knowledge is spreading. It may be ugly now but the fact that you are discussing this topic and not the only one, there is hope. Progress, strength. Thank you for this contribution.
Hello my friend, yes it's no wonder that we no longer see the great youth rebellions of yesteryear, and I'm not talking about the controlled narratives that many seem to be following today. In many ways music was the vehicle for these counter-culture rebellions; hippies, punks, rave culture , hip-hop, they terrified the establishment and so to control it the manipulators had to bring it into the mainstream.. a mainstream that owns every opposing viewpoint.
Like you say though, the mere fact I'm writing this and you're commenting on it speaks volumes. Yes I'm very much in agreement that things are changing .. slowly but surely, but the genie is now out of the bottle and will not be put back in .. in fact the more they try to control it the more they reveal their hand! Thanks again@eyeofthemind
Those PR spinmeister masters, are experts at deceiving and manipulating the public consciousness into taking positions of either extreme! Thanks for this fantastic article.
Thank you @palikari123 thank you for the support my friend .. yes I couldn't agree more, I believe they are destroying the foundations of everything we hold true, methodically breaking society down so it can be rebuilt in a model of their own creation. Thanks again my friend.
The gang culture of recent history is surely a product of the larger scheme to keep people fighting each other, scared and divided. When you think of how foolish it is that people fight each other over colors they wear you know that the system that designed it has truly won the battle. I don't think that the Nixon era deep state thought that these ideologies would succeed so much. It has definitely taken hold; growing up in a community where people I knew fell victim to the gang culture. They were in bad family situations, in poverty and involved with drugs, all the parts of the recipe.
I tell everyone I can that this infighting and bickering between people is designed to be so; be it Democrat and republican, blood and crip and so many other divisional criteria: it's all manufactured!
Yes my friend .. divide and conquer is the oldest game in the book, and yet it's still very effective. This system is very much aware of the laws of duality .. but instead of duality creating a cohesive whole it is being utilised as a tool of division .. red vs blue, black vs white. It's both a play upon and a manipulation of the duality that's inherent within our own brains left/right hemispheres .. we must become wise to these tactics and mind games.
Yes I agree it has very much taken hold, I have seen the good, bad and ugly that this world has to offer and I've seen the way the construct of society impedes the ability of the people to rise above and indeed unify in the face of these manipulations. I generally feel if you want to find the truth of this world then you start from the ground up, the man on the street that lives the reality of a world that many fail to see. Thanks again @cmplxty
