Actually gungrab may not even be the immediate agenda of these ridiculous "mass shottings".
What if they just want americans to believe the Government is coming for their guns...with the effect of pushing them to buy even more guns before an hypotetical ban. Infact there's a boom of arms sales after each of these mass shootings. I think the ban on guns will come at some point, but before then the usual suspects are gonna make a ton of money on gun sales/stocks.
Also such hoaxes are always useful for some Divide&Conquer politics. The "synthesis/solution" will likely be and increase demand for security, which means an increase of the Police State. This picture says it all:
