So much of our "science" is completely bogus.
They take something plausible and run with it.

Like the big bang, or the theory of relativity, or macro-evolution.
The pyramids were built by the Egyptians with slave labor (even though their own texts say they didn't)

All of these sound plausible when you are trained to think that way as a young kid. But, every one of these theories fails when any actual analysis is placed to them.

I worked in the oil industry for a short bit, and the formation they are looking for underground mean that oil comes from somewhere deeper.

And, if we take a pile of cows, and bury them, we do not get oil.
But we can take their shit and turn it into methane.
