The mafia really did go legit in the past century; they've convinced the majority of the earth's population that the casino model of economics is the only way to run a civilization. The mafia controls governments, corporations, and banks. I call them the unholy trinity and the modus operandi is insisting on a cut of the vig of any transaction done anywhere by anyone. This is why they need total surveillance. I won't get into the metaphysics of who and why they are doing this.
