Bible teaching: By rejecting conscience, certain persons have suffered shipwreck in the faith

Consciousness is what reminds us of what is right and wrong, we all discern, that is, we have the freedom to choose between good and evil. Being aware at all times of what we do, that means having a conscience.
Paul explains to us that conscience and faith cannot each go their own way: "By rejecting conscience, certain persons have suffered shipwreck in the faith", 1 Timothy 1:19.

Jesus puts it another way, conscience is "our treasure" and our "heart": "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also", Matthew 6:21, Luke 12:34; also: "No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.", Luke 6:43-45
Accepting Jesus is accepting a good conscience, we have to choose between a mind ruled by the flesh and a mind ruled by the spirit, and this is important because all men judge according to their own measure (Aristotle):
"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the spirit, set their minds on the things of the spirit. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so." Romans 8: 5-7
The bible explains and teach how to cultivate, how to develop a good conscience: "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - thinks about such things." Philippians 4:8.
Our thoughts and our actions determine our conscience, we have to choose between good and evil, between righteousness and sin.
