Steem Machine Parts List!

in #computers8 years ago (edited)

I have ordered parts for my new computer, and it differs a bit from my initial ideas. Prices on components changed, and Bitcoin bumped up in price to enable a bit more bang for my buck.

I am posting links to manufacturer websites instead of the exact product pages where I got these because online prices and inventories fluctuate a lot. Amazon.com and Newegg.com were my primary sources. Newegg accepts bitcoin through Bitpay if your wallet handles Bitcoin Payment Protocol addresses. For Amazon, you can buy gift cards on Gyft.com using your Coinbase account (referral link), on eGifter.com via Bitpay again, or through Purse.io (referral link) if you want to try for a discount in exchange for risking a longer wait.

Parts List

This is not a completely top-tier system, but it will be toward the high end of current performance, and should easily allow future expansion.

Case
Second-hand Cooler Master HAF 932 from my tech expert brother-in-law's extra parts. See the embedded image to the right sourced from their website.

Motherboard
ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero with an AM4 socket.

CPU
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 8-core, 16-thread 3.6 GHz processor that can be easily boosted to 4.0 GHz, or even beyond.

GPU
ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce GTX 1080 TI graphics card.

RAM
G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 memory, 16GB @ 3200MHz. I may add more soon.

Storage
Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD. More will be added later. I am tempted to buy a second dedicated SSD to hold all downloaded games, and a third for media files. These things are tiny compared to the older hard disk drives.

Power Supply
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G3 modular power supply, which should be more than ample for system specs now and potential upgrades.

Cooling System
XSPC RayStorm Ion EX360 water cooling kit. The case is built to hold one of these, and my evil plans for future overclocking demands such cooling measures.

I also bought a 27" 1920x1080 monitor to finally join the world of HD games. I plan to keep one of my old 4:3 19" 1280x1024 monitors in portrait mode for document viewing though. I still need to consider a good wireless keyboard, and probably need a new mouse some time soon. But all things considered, this should be a beast of a machine for the next couple years. I can run games or resource-intensive drafting software with zero concern!

And last but not least, I have to thank Steemit and my fellow Steemians for making this possible. I truly appreciate your support, because without it, this would not have been possible. Keep calm, Steem on, and squash the spammers!

Very nice, have fun overclocking that thing I hope you win the silicon lottery!

You got yourself a nice red build going on from what I can tell. I do love when things match up.

This is not a completely top-tier system

cries in phenom 945. Nice PC bud although I am a little bit disappointed with your monitor r/ultrawidemasterrace my friend. For you keyboard I cant recommend r/mechanicalkeyboard enough.
Have fun with your new build :)

Sounds a lot like what my current machine runs. I have a Phenom II X4 970 and an AMD 6770 at the moment. A new graphics card would boost its lifespan, but I really, really like what I have read about the Ryzen chips.

My current keyboard is a Logitech K120. I think I bought it for a couple bucks at a thrift shop a few years back. It works.

As for the monitor, like the keyboard, it's something I can always upgrade later.

Maaan you make me jealous! That is a beast. So cool to see that you've been able to get this because of steemit! I'm sure you're really happy for it!
It's awesome to see posts like this, because it shows how amazing this platform really is! Enjoy your games :)

Keep calm and Steem On! You'll get to the point where Steemit can allow this for you, too. We're all still early adopters in the cryptocurrency world.

Haha, I know that will happen! No worries at all :P
