decisions
Well today i managed with help, removed a macbook pro 2011 battery, which i believe was expanding, and causing the keys on the machine to not respond fully, then times they would. As i've had this machine that long.
I diy'd the job with help, replaced with a compatible battery after checking reviews, and such. I'd have sent it into apple, but felt they might not have the parts anymore..
Fired up the machine & it's still sometimes causing the key issues, but the new batteries fine and recognised clearly.. One thing after another it seems.. may have to have the keyboard replaced. which from reading teardown sites from ifixit. this can be quite a mission to do.. Could just stick in a external kb, but it doesn't feel right, plus the usb ports need to be free for music work and more..
Which comes to a dilemma, should i get a new machine after all, and restore everything over, besides the minor key issue, everything else works fine, and well the dvd region is locked to region 1 due to user error.. Depending how well the new battery holds up. i may get another year out of this.
Wouldn't usually hesitate on a new machine when it comes to mac-ware, because its been trouble free and well built, in fact tighter than fortknox (bad joke), except the new ones I'm not keen on two things, i'm sure others have experienced with, the audio ports nr the corner now and could easily snap or worse, and lastly no usb ports, which society still needs to use, especially when you're using music paid programs which require you run encryption usb keys to run your paid software. Until ilok and licenser create usbC versions, we're stuck with buying adaptors for our needs!
Well for now i shall mull over the pros and cons for a week or two, or however long the keyboard keys fully die. for now the jittery keys are o ,j,k,l,s & i suspect more will go in a short time. If that does, then it's time to do something and replace the machine.
Thats always tough. Have you tried using a bluetooth keyboard with it?
not sure i have one, got other machines to use, just prefer apple cause its easier, and stress free.. plus all the music production runs it.. got a week ish to decide whether i could upgrade, can still use this alongside just for music still, and everything else important on the new one
Yeah apple does have good music support - everyone I know who works in the music industry uses mac stuff. I guess if you have other machines it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Hope you figure this out :)
long as the trackpad works on this, i can do music without shortkeys if need be.
