Where are Your Priorities?

Scripture used; Mar 12:28-31 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? (29) And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: (30) And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (31) And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

I used the whole context, but the concentration is just v.30 & 31;

So just what does verse 30 say?

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Just as the 10 Commandments start with God, and the last is about men; so is this!

But, it says Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul, and mind, as well as your strength. Can’t say it much better than that now can you?

In other words; God is 1st in all things in your life!

Then folks the 2nd is sort of like it; It says to love thy neighbor (which in this case means all men) as thy self.

Right? Of course!

So how do we go about this, or think about this?

It is the word ‘Love’ that boggles the minds of most who say, and read these words, for it has nothing to do with this concept people have of the word ‘Love’; is is not some emotional, touchy, feely, thing, but a way of treating each other in any given situation.

So how should we treat God?

Is He not to be worshiped for all He has done for us? Of course God is to be worshiped, and just what does this mean? First of all God should be as the verse said, take primary place in our minds, soul, body, and strength before all else! If this is true then we should seek to know all about God, and we do this from His Word that He gave to us! We should seek to walk, and live as close to what God commands as we can, and God gave us an exact example in the flesh by His Son Jesus.

Then 2nd we should do right by all men/women in treating them as Jesus treated all men!

By realizing there is a priority to things and accepting this we will be better examples and citizens in God’s Kingdom!

If we follow this then all other things in life will fall in their proper place!
