WRONG WAY OF PICKING UP A CHILD.

I am here to talk about this issue about picking up a child by the hand.

Picking up a child by the hand is wrong. Some studies have shown that when you pick up a child by the hand, it can dislocate the child's hand and even tear the tissues connecting or joining the child's hand.

I have had several cases of children who came back from school and their day care centers with dislocated elbows and shoulder and it was discovered that it happened because they were picked up by their hands.

I have always known, just with my commonsense, that picking up a child by the hand is wrong and dangerous and so i do not pick up a child by the hand.

But unfortunately, it seems that a lot of people don't know that it is wrong and dangerous to pick up a child by the hand, because i have seen several people, parents alike picking up their child by the hand.

I really do not like to see people picking up a child by the hand because i know how dangerous it is.

In fact i have had to confront some people who l have seen picking up children by their hands, making them understand that it is wrong and dangerous to pick up a child by their hand.

From the diagram above you can see the dislocation that can happen when you pick up or carry a baby by the hand. This dislocation is called Nursemaid's Elbow.

So What is Nursemaid's Elbow

Nursemaid's Elbow is when you basically dislocate a child's elbow. It happens very easily from picking or swinging a child by the hands. It can happen anytime up to 4 years old.

So for those of you who pick up a child by the hand without knowing the dangers of doing that you can now see the dangers of picking up a child by the hand.

So if you are the type that pick up a child by the hand, please try to desist from it because there is a lot of pain when there is a dislocation in any part of body, so let us not cause children pain.

For me, if you want to know how i pick up a child, i pick a child up from the trunk, this way there is no danger of dislocating any thing in the child that will lead to pain.
