[Welcome Page] Steemit New User Questionnaire

in #community8 years ago (edited)

Retaining users is one of the key ingredients to becoming a mainstream platform!

Lots of new users are joining Steemit every day, but what can we learn from them to help grow the platform and improve the community?

I want to put together a "New User Questionnaire" that we will provide to new users as part of the Welcome Page. We will recommend that users complete a post with their answers after being on the site for 2-3 weeks. Hopefully we will start to see these surveys from new users become as common as "introduceyourself" posts!

This will give everyone in the community valuable feedback on what we are doing right and wrong, as well as give new users a way to get involved with improving the platform :-)

Here are some sample questions:

  1. How did you get introduced to Steemit?
  2. How long have you been on the platform?
  3. What are your first impressions of the website/community?
  4. What do you like most about Steemit?
  5. What do you dislike about Steemit?
  6. If you could pick one feature to add to the website, what would it be?
  7. What suggestions do you have on how to grow the platform?
  8. What is your favorite post that you have read so far?
  9. Who is your favorite author so far?
  10. What questions do you have?

Please add your thoughts/feedback (including question suggestions) below!

I like it.

We should also ask user again after 3 month and every consequitive 3 month.

This would give us some great i formation to grow the ecosystem and learn what we are doing wrong

Interesting idea! Thanks :)

I think for realz this would make difference. Especially analyzing what users think that are not using steem anymore.

I think this is a great idea too. I'm curious, can you add a link on the welcome page to this site for Japanese users looking for help in Japanese?

I'll talk to @sneak about it and see how they want to handle it. I know they plan to update the site to fully support all languages, but I don't know where they are at with that.

Thank you! I appreciate it.

Nice idea! Here's my two cents worth on part of the survey for what it's worth:

What do you dislike about Steemit?

The flagging system doesn't work well. Perhaps if it cost .5 SBD to flag a post and the cost was burned to push the value of all SBD up it would help cut down on flag abuse.

Thanks! :)

It does technically 'cost' in that the flagger doesn't earn any curation rewards for the SP that is used to flag. If they had upvoted a post instead, then they would have earned curation rewards.

It's not much for small accounts, but for an account with a lot of SP (that would do a lot of damage with flagging) it can actually cost them more than .5 SBD.

Excellent idea Mr. @timcliff, a topic to see in the future, that will push people to bring more guests is the subject of referrals, is to keep in mind.

Thanks @jlufer :)
I would love to see a referral program implemented! There has been talk of it, but I don't think it is planned anytime soon.

This can be very positive for the community growth!

This post has been ranked within the top 10 most undervalued posts in the first half of Jan 28. We estimate that this post is undervalued by $20.05 as compared to a scenario in which every voter had an equal say.

Statistics do not say the same thing!
For 8 months, there have been many suggestions. Have they been forgotten?

So do you think doing a survey is a bad idea?

A survey is a good idea but perhaps with people who have left or who have not become users. What is worrying is the decrease of new users and the non-increase of active users.

It will be very hard to get survey people from the people that leave. I agree that would be very valuable though!
