RE: TERMINAL ~ TALK : STEEMTERMINAL DISCORD & H A R D F O R K. 21

There seems to be some misunderstanding of how a hardfork works.

Unless the testnet has completely missed a major bug, when the hardfork time is reached on August 27th there should be no downtime on the chain.

There are already enough of the top 20 witnesses running the new version of the software for the changes to kick in. The date and time of the hardfork is coded into the software when to take effect. There is no replay time.

Again, unless a major bug has been missed during the testnet, there should be no stoppage on the chain.

If thats the case we Will go as we do Daily, but if not we Will be there to help, thank you for the information

There should be no stoppage, but with HF20, there was...

yes and with HF20 there wasn't near the testnet effort. They learned from their mistakes. We just had this discussion at the Witness Chat last Wednesday about the difference between the two. One HF in 20 doesn't make a trend.

For many of us, HF20 was the first one we knew about - and for all the wrong reasons!

I will just comment that if HF21 is really going to force people to buy upvotes in order to make up for the loss (from what I've heard from top-quality individuals), it's going to be rough going for those of us who can afford it the least, but still produce excellent material. At the very least, I hope the Witnesses plan to keep a close eye on what's going on with us little guys!

I'm not a fan of the EIP part of HF21 and really don't believe that the top witnesses who decide these things really give a damn about the small accounts. They are too busy looking after their own interests.

The one caution I will give you .. be careful about buying upvotes. With the reckless hype over downvoting, there will be those who will decide to go after vote buyers and wont have the guts to hit the bigger accounts, so the small ones will be their target.
You might want to let the dust settle some.

And here I was hoping you were going to tell me that the fear was unjustified and that everyone at the top had things well in hand... Oh well. I just hope they don't kill the blockchain by being too greedy - forgetting that they need the content producers!

Good point on the downvoters. I've only been doing enough to get my posts over 1.0 SBD - in prep for HF21... but I can see that there could easily be an issue with "cowboy" downvoting rather than the more organized campaign found with SteemFlagRewards.

I am worried about the downvoting too, and I don’t see the good in that. Downvoting is a cheap way to say you don’t like someone but that can be written too. We will see
