RE: What if We Could Put a Post to the Top of Trending WITHOUT Buying Votes? Here's How I Think We Could Do it!
Since my reply to this comment has been seen in a negative light, I'd like to address it. I was not trying to discourage anyone from being a part of anything. This is a big platform and there is room for plenty of initiatives. First, I don't understand what you think would happen by me having more than one "high value" account (although I wonder, are you basing this on my rep score, or my wallet?) I'm a minnow. Just like many of you. I had over 16k SP last summer, but had to cash out due to family obligations, and some travel that we thought was paid for another way. Long story short, I'm still just shy of 1000 SP, my vote is worth 22 cents on a good day. But, I think you'd find my account has been used to encourage and support others from the very beginning, hundreds of hours, even to my own detriment. I've never tried to profit off of it, other than accepting rewards for the posts made in service to those ideals, which, by the way, are some of the lowest paid posts I've created, turns out, minnows don't have big votes and dolphins and whales are not interested in supporting training. They'd rather you buy votes from them. But, the @dolphinschool profile was created in response to the fact that my own blog was overwhelmed by the dolphinschool bootcamp. I funded the profile, what little it has, through my account and a couple of dormant accounts belonging to my wife and son. I asked no one for delegation or support. I bought what few votes I have purchased, to try and get the dolphinschool bootcamp posts to make more, so that the profit sharing from them would be larger for the students, several of whom made more in payouts than I, on their homework assignments. For ten days I got about $50 SBD. 1/3 of which I shared with students.
So, when you say, it seems I would be making the lion's share, okay. But, I'm also funding the entire process. It's my name on the line. I'm the one coming up with the idea. People were openly invited to voluntarily contribute whatever they wanted to. I've not twisted any arms or asked for a single cent. In return, I've been questioned at least three times as to what my intentions are. So, I responded. The reason I am not interested in a communal arrangement is simple. I've been in the arts for 25 years. It has been my experience that groups run by committee tend to fail, while those with a strong leader, are typically longer lived and able to do more good. This was my vision from the beginning. I'm asking anyone who wants to, to tag along. I'm not apologizing for taking a cut, because I know what I've done with resources in the past and what I'll continue to do in the future. To add an obvious point, in all of this discussion here, mine is the highest reputation score among us. What does that mean? It means that, I've accumulated more votes on this platform than any of the rest of the voices in this conversation. I've put in two years of hard work, shared more than five million words, and I intend to earn my living here. As the price increases, which it will again in the near future, the pool will as well (in cash value) leaving plenty of room for anyone that wants to work as hard as I have to succeed. I'm willing to share everything I know and some of what I earn, but not all. I'm sorry if this seems greedy, or disingenuous. I started this is an outlet for my own ideas on steemit and experiments I conducted and to date, it remains such. In the process, I intend to promote as many others, without cost or obligation, as I can. I hope this is a better response than what I previously gave.
I like this reply more than the previous one - lol
