KILA & INDIGENOUS PEOPLES
Hello Steemians,
Today I want to share my experience joining World's Indigenous Peoples Day held in Borneo. I've been to this event twice as an exhibitor for our Renewable Energy Demo 2014 and 2017. Its a priceless experience for me because even though I claim meself as an Indigenous Peoples, my knowledge about IP and their culture is very shallow. (Need to learn more and embrace my heritage) :(
This was taken at Murut Cultural Centre in Tenom Borneo. Love the background.
*Exhibition with my fellow colleague. Showing off our proudly made in Borneo Pelton Turbines, Turgo Turbines, Propeler and our Pelton Bucket (all of these is made from recyclable aluminium cans. 1 Pelton Bucket = 24 Recyclable Aluminium Cans)
This two Orang Asli from West Malaysia. They come to to visit our booth. Just for Info, our team actually have done 2 Micro Hydro Projects in West Malaysia for the orang Asli community.
Demo by our team member Ah James, to make the pelton bucket from scratch. Its very interesting to watch and understand his explaination. People get to try and do the metal casting/sand casting too. Its like hands on crash course. From here, we encourage the community to recyle.
DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR BEER CANS AFTER HAPPY HOUR DRINKING hahahaha
group photo lol...
Photo session with Mr Gam Shimray -Secretary General of the Asian Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) the guest of Honor that day with Secretariat Director Of JOAS Mdm Beverly, my Executive Director, JOAS Chairman and His Secretary .
I look forward for the next World Indigenous Peoples Day celebration this year. A lot of thing/cultures/tribes that I never knew exists I've seen that day. We can learn about their community life experience, their struggles being Indigenous and treated biased by others. Maybe this year I will be full time participant instead of demo/booth exhibitor.
P/S - Did you all notice??, @verasj (the Iron Lady who introduce me to steemit and got me hook as well) is also here at WIPD or PHOAS. You all can see her happy face. Till then.
