This is nice, I believe steemit is all about engaging and communicating. Although sometimes I'm quite bad at. Commencting on other peoples post I mostly reply on all the comments on my own posts. But you're right! Read more comment more! Then you'll get the exposure you need.
Apart from the exposure you will definitely grow on, you will feel more connecTed and as if they are your friends, mute than just a group of voters/followers. ^^
