Quick! Find Your Niche!

in #community8 years ago

Actually, you don't even need to do that much. Just write what you wanna write about, interact with who you want to interact with, support what you wanna support. The niche will come, it will
Hunt.
You.
Down.
The niche will find you, eventually. You don't have to worry about what other people are going to think about what you're thinking. The right people will be drawn to your blog and you'll be drawn to the right people. That's my best reason for treating the community basically as equal. It's going to grow up one day and the friends and allies you make now might be with you for the whole ride.

My kinda steemit niche:

Make your quality content based on something you love or are passionate about, then it's not work

Who needs two jobs? Maybe eventually it'll be zero

Read posts to learn from another person's point of view

Cause learning is fun! 😄

Support the things in the community that you want to keep seeing

Don't support things looking to get a vote, but to give your vote to

Treat everyone equally and watch the platform grow organically

Nobody is going to have whales circling them, why not support everyone equally, these little fish are all gonna grow

Thought I'd treat you guys to a quickie tonight. I'll try to crank one out in the AM.

I love you, goodnight.

Sort:

I hope you're right - some days I feel like I'm floundering around and talking to myself lol - as long as I'm enjoying myself and being me I'm happy :)

We all have those feelings, stick with it, what you have to say WILL get an audience.

The less we view steemit as a means to money, the more enjoyment we can get out of it, and it won't hurt our chances of success, rather long term success will be more likely. At least in my opinion

This is the way it should be. With money connected it becomes like anything else and greed takes over

Ya, there are plenty of greedy people on here, but long term it won't work for them as well as teaming up... Unless of course they have a ton of money invested

Exactly right my friend!

Eventually when it comes to writing, the words starts to simply flow and then you get paragraphs after paragraphs of a certain subject.

Steemit is a free place so everyone is free to write about whatever they want. We even have tags and front ends for memes :P

Yup, and I think our ability to navigate to posts we want to see will only get easier, I'm really hoping they make it so we can sort based on the app posted on

It’s tougher to view the feed when some people resteem like 50 posts, I don’t see any advantage to doing that

I'm hoping you can filter out resteems at some point too

All great things to keep in mind.

"Nobody is going to have whales circling them, why not support everyone equally, these little fish are all gonna grow"

This is one of the bigger things to keep in mind. I used to be a baby minnow. Our account value grows and we remember the people who were around, and hopefully we still remember the struggle. So we can try to help others.

That's the way I see it, better to create relationships and connections with people you think are awesome, whether they're just great people or you love their content

Simple, be yourself and be a good person. It's your blog, just be you.

Yup, exactly, be the you you want to be

I'm trying to believe .. I don't think I'm the kind of person who can make some fake blog persona in order to replicate other people's success so I can make more Steem, but I do notice a ton of photography contests and people posting 5-6 times a day just to milk the rewards pool. It kinda sucks but on the other hand I guess they are lucky, for now. They have found their niche. :)
My thoughts about it lately is that I may be a minnow, but as a seasoned blogger, I'm also more like a hermit in a cave. That's also a niche, but not many people are looking for crazy hermit wisdom .. they are more interested in feel-good posts light on content with some flashy graphics, or really on Steemit it seems many posts get upvoted because people are looking to cash in on the upvote. I wish curation lasted more than 7 days, especially for minnow accounts. I understand the payment system, but it also means any post older than 7 days is just ignored, regardless of content.
Anyway, rock on, I love you too, hey wait a minute .. :)

Ya, it can be disheartening seeing some of the stuff posted making big money, that's why I think it's so important to do what you feel is right for you, some people flag that stuff, some people don't have the means.

The curation system makes it so people feel the need to post non-stop, which I don't really like, I guess if you wanted to post the same post again it wouldn't be an issue, maybe like a revised or updated point in a topic would work, not sure how else to go around it.

I always know I can come to the @jakeybrown page to find content that is rewardingly full of wisdom and a reminder what we are really all about. I appreciate you timely reminders.

Hey, thanks for the kind words! Sometimes I have to remind myself haha
