An Update on My Steemit Based Charity Projects
In total, I have requested Steemit community three times for support. The first call for help was for two poor Christian families before Christmas. The second one was for a 12 year old boy who is a tea seller. The latest one was for a poor family stuck in the vicious cycle of poverty. This post is a quick update on all three of them.
The latest example of how Steemit has helped poor people.
I basically wanted to cover the latest one to let the community know what had been done with the raised funds. I think financial tranparency and honesty is key to development of trust within any economy. Steemit (fundamentally, the Steem blockchain) is a economy and its needs trust to thrive. So, here's what I have done so far.
Money Handed Over to Poor Family
I had requested the community to help me in collecting funds for a poor family due to the reasons recorded in the post. The post payout is shown below.
$357 payout is an evidence of how much the community cares.
And here is the final screenshot of the payout I got in SBD and SP.
What I did was to include 20 SBD in place of the SP rewards (at the exact conversion rate at that time) and also include 15 SBD for this post as well (which actually finalized at far less value). In total, 170 SBD was sold by me at the price or $6.34, making the total 1177.8 USD.
I sent the money to my trusted local crypto exchanger @rizcryptotrader (who introduced Steemit to me by the way). He sent me (or the account I gave to him) a total of 129,000/- PKR.
The first 50,000/- Pkr ($450) was sent to an account of a person who is close to the needy family.
The remaining 79,000/- Pkr ($700+) were received by me in my own account to hand over cash to the concerned family (to keep their privacy and self-esteem intact).
I handed over 50,000/- from the remaining balance yesterday as well.
Handed over. Picture taken for proof but identity hidden to keep the esteem of family intact.
I still have 29,000/- ($260) with me. I have requested my local exchanger to give me some BTC for that amount. Once done, I will buy a good altcoin project and hold for the family. It will help them more than the money I can hand over right now. Also, this money is not immediately required but they have taken some loans to arrange a total of $2200, so there will be a need soon. I have not told them about the exact amount yet but they will have something invested in crypto without knowing. I hope it turns out to be profitable for them.
PS: Another $200 worth of Bitcoin has been given by @Transisto for the payout of his comment that he dedicated to the charity. I will sell it when the price is high and hand over the money to the family for returning loans.
Christmas Charity Closed Successfully.
It's a short update because I had done the work on this porject before Christmas. Here's the final update that I posted in December.
3000 collected from the payout and given to concerned people.
I have recently seen a 10 Steem donation in my transfers by @hamzayousaf which I did not have an idea of. It will also be given to the poor families when Steem price is high.
Still Looking for the 12 Year Old Boy...
I don't know if he is afraid or his mother has warned him about bad people. Whatever the case, I have not been able to get a call from him yet. Here's my conversation with the 12 year old boy by the way. The community raised 14,300/- Pkr ($130) for him, which are with me till now.
I have visited the busy bus terminal at least five times since then. I have looked for him everywhere. One day, I missed him by an hour or so because he had left early. He comes there but not at the time I am also there. I have even told the station manager to send my message to him. I did not receive a call despite my reaching him.
Last update on the matter is that I gave my contact number to the bus station manager and asked him to contact me when Shayan was around so that I can give his money to him and tell him that Steemit helped him.
Thank You, Steemit!
I am thankful to Steem blockchain for being benovalent. I was able to help these poor people through Steemit community and it is an incredible feeling. Now that my Educate One Child page has been removed by Facebook alongwith my account, I have all the reasons to shift my initiative to Steem blockchain where it can stay forever.
I am thankful to every person who believed in humanity and believed in my charity projects. I assure you that I am a financially upright person and will never let anyone down. There are many people on Steemit who will tell you good things my financial dealings. Please keep supporting honest people who are helping poor people around the world.
Steem on!
Payout of this post will be utilized to enable and sponsor education of children belonging to poor families, who otherwise cannot afford to educate their children.
Also, accept my apologies for not being able to reply to anyone in the comments. I have received more than 200 comments on my translation contest post and they need urgent replies so my time has been consumed there. I thank you all for commenting here with your wise and kind words.
