About Having More - Part II

in #community6 years ago (edited)

Yesterday we talked about having more money (or their substitutes).

Today, I thought we should approach this theme on a different level.

This time one would give without necessarily expecting something in return, would have a prosocial attitude. His or her work toward the benefit of the community will return many times-fold and in many ways, including through the growth and strengthen of the entire community.

I'm not very experienced in this approach, I'm mostly an introvert, but I've been lucky enough to be surrounded by people who give more than they expect in return, and have met such people later in life as well.

Not so long ago, I joined my co-nationals in their already established but still very young community project @steemromania here on Steem and on Discord. That's a place where prosocial behavior is highly praised and one of its most fervent supporters is @lishu, with whom I keep a close connection on Discord. He continuously impresses me with his attitude and his projects. If you're curious, in his latest post he explains his journey so far on Steemit.

About the have more part. This is maybe in the last turn about money, but can include monetary compensation (or Steem/SBD rewards, since we are here in the middle of a revolutionary system). Much before that come the relationships that are built, the benefits of collaboration instead of competition, the strength of a community versus an individual, the sense of belonging, the sheer joy of giving and maybe more I'm missing right now.

A prosocial action can be altruistic or not. Does a non-altruistic attitude make a prosocial action worthless? No. It just includes ulterior motifs. I'm not going to insist on this aspect, because it could turn into a rant, and it's not the point of this post.

Communities are a big part of Steem. If you haven't exercised your giving, prosocial behavior too much so far, they are a great place to start. But don't stop there, see how that works out for you in real life situations!

If you live a prosocial life, I hope it is fulfilling for you. If not yet, hang in there, I think this type of behavior will be embraced more and more, as we enter the world of abundance, and the basic needs (and rights) will be assured for everyone.

Brother, your words fill my heart with joy. It's fantastic to be sarounded by people that share the same principles and believes, I really am glad we met digitaly and I hope we have the possibility of doing it in person soon :)

Yep, life is full of surprises, isn't it? If I wouldn't had had that little issue with the exchanges, I probably wouldn't have joined @SteemRomania or at least not for a while. But now there I am and enjoying it.

Glad to have you on board :)
