TIME TO RISE AND DISCOURAGE PARENTAL NEGLIGENCE IN OUR SOCIETY
Parents are important members of the society.
Parents who form the family can be viewed as first agents of socialization because they are the role models and mentors that a child looks up to.
Parenting comes with lots of responsibilities, which when not handled well, will have negative effects on the children. An act of irresponsibility on the part of parents is child negligence. “Negligence.” according to Advanced Learners' Dictionary means “Failure to give someone enough care or attention," While parental negligence could be a crime consisting of acts of parental denial.
Those who claims to be parents, but fail to take steps necessary to properly raise their child are doing the society grave ill. Parental negligence is a social menace which has helped to kindle the rate of social misconducts. Parental negligence does not only involve failures to provide the basic needs but also in their duty to instill moral etiquette to the child's consciousness.
Children are future leaders of the society. They should be given sufficient care and enlightenment. Research has revealed that 45% of social misconducts could be attributed to parental negligence. Parents of nowadays feel the only work they have to do for their children is to provide for them their basic needs, not knowing that it is far from what their children need. A child needs love, advice and encouragement.
Parental negligence has many effects on youth population, which include absence of control from immoral behaviours like prostitution, cultism, etcetera.
Imagine some parents leaving home around 5am in the morning to return around 9pm without having an eye on their children. How do you think their children will behave? Obviously, their children will be living unscrupulous lifestyles.
Some parents do not care about their children's behaviours or the friends they keep. Many do not even know the academic performances of their children. Worst of it all, some parents are ignorant of the capabilities of their children, thereby exposing them to bad friends who may in turn influence them negatively.
Some children are reticent in sharing their problems with their parents because they will usually respond harshly: "can't you see that i am busy?!” Thus the child would solve the problem inappropriately.
Parents also take actions without minding the influence on their children. Imagine a mother wearing a dress that exposes her body? What does she expect of her female children? There is a saying that the "Siblings of the serpent never fails to be long." A Female child of an irresponsible mother must definitely take after their mother's lifestyles. Remember that a mother hen with chicks does not perch on a high strand.
Children are like hidden stars, which need encouragement, advice and prayers from their parents to shine. The best place a parent can invest in is on the children. Parents ensure they establish a good and stable relationship with their children. They should employ effective communication mechanisms for smooth relationship.
Parental negligence if adequately taken care of, will drastically reduce the rate of crime in the society . This will further guarantee the emergence of responsible leaders of tomorrow.

Some parent hardly have the understanding that they shall give account of how they had trained their children. If every parents have this understanding, i think every child will have a good sense of belonging to a happy home. We all know how important it is for every child to have a guidance. You can imagine a chld with no guidance, alot of things he might engage in may be hell to him or her because he doesnt know till he finds himself in such unfortunate perr. A parent that abadone his or her responsibility is actually driving his children to bitterful life and regret of living. Such children find themselves in an unfortunate world. Proper training from every parents drive family and society to be heaven on earth and the impact of parental care is recognised. Thank you.

The role of parenting in building better individuals and better societies cannot be over looked but must and should be given the necessary attention it deserves. Our societies are where the are today mostly because parents failed, when parents fail the child fails; the failed child becomes a parent tomorrow and the cycle continues giving room to all the societal, moral, political, religious, and economic ills now see. Some individuals behavior is worst than that of the devil due to lack of parental care and being exposed to bad peers.

That is why we have so many hooligans, in the society today.
I think government should take a step to regulate the number of children a family can have.
Perhaps this can help parents to be more responsible to their kids.

I don't think this will in anyway solve the problem because those with just a kid or 2 tend to pamper them which will in turn bring a negative moral and social behavior upon those kids.

One of the ways this could be solved is to make everyone to be well informed about what parental care is all about.
Gov can also organise different seminars for pregnant women
And as we all know that the media is powerful, they can use this to orientate the populace

Parental negligience has affected so many talents out there, but i think this is the best time to eradicate it by giving our kids the chance to prove their worths. They are golds, but need to be washed before they shine, don't try to reshape them, because they are valuable already. Trying to reshape it into another form reduces the initial size.

This is alarming today. Many kids are neglected and left at the mercy of house maids or neighbours while parents are away making money. Not bad searching for how to take care of the family but planning well and having few kids and simplifying one's life , to me is the solution to this manace. Thanks for sharing @ euronation
