Steemit Community Gathering: Be Supportive and Stay Positive!

Whenever my husband's bestfriend is in town, he and few of his close ex-classmates will take the opportunity to meet up over dinner or coldies. Last night, we decided to have our small gathering at Labuan's latest and coolest lounge, The Living Room.

This gathering was an unplanned one but since almost all the close ex-classmates (+ 2 wives) are all Steemit newcomers, hence, this gathering unofficially turns into a steemit gathering!

@threec and Isnah (pending for password) being the newest addition in Labuan Steemians, require further explanation and assistance to begin their journey in Steemit. Being a new steemians ourselves, we tried our best to get them to familiarize the steemit platform.

We exchanged many questions and answers about steemit during our gathering. But what caught my attention is the question of "How can our own steemit community supports the new steemians", which in this term, the #teammalaysia and #teammalaysiasabah.

Frankly, we have heard enough advises from more influenced steemians that:

• you should write quality contents
• you should write something that can contribute to the community
• you should post at least 3 to 4 contents and be consistent in posting so people noticed you
• You should engage with other steemians thru commenting, upvoting and resteeming contents that you feel bring value to the community
• You should use correct tags

The list goes on and in fact, they are right! New steemians should do all the above and we actually tried to follow all that. But as new members to this platfrom, we do not have many followers under us, our audience are limited and our voting powers are still weak.

So, in my humble opinion, this is where the so called "community" should come to support its members. The community must be supportive not only during early introduction of Steemit and during sign up process but WE should STAY SUPPORTIVE throughout the whole process.

I am blessed to be part of the small #labuansteemians community. Despite being a small community of 38 members, we support, guide and share our knowledge among each others. We know that our voting powers and bandwidth are limited but we are also aware that we have window of 7 days to support each other's contents.

We totally understand that there is no obligations in commenting, upvoting and resteeming each contents, but this is a community platform and I humbly believe that it is important that the community take its role to support each others.

During our gathering, we get one of the staff to help us to take some photos and videos. Then, she came up to us and asked what were we discussing and what team were we in?

These two beautiful, hardworking ladies will be the new addition to #labuansteemians soon. This is one of the many ways we can do to carry on with our efforts of community building and I am glad that our community continue to expand and continue to support each other.
