Underpaid niches - and what to do about it

We all have different interests and hobbies and as an active SteemIt user we have different niches.
The problem is that some niches are very successful, while in others you land on trending with $1 payout, although the posts are of high quality.
This is due to the fact that the niche is not very popular, there are currently not many people there or does not contain any people with a high SteemPower. As a result, high quality postings will not reach high upvotes because the necessary resources are simply not available. No people, no Upvotes, no Payout!
Reasons
I don't know exactly and I can only guess, but the first people on SteemIt were probably early crypto investors and programmers. The platform is becoming more and more popular from day to day and new user registrations are increasing daily!
Nevertheless, we are in a very early phase of the platform and it will take some time for people outside the cryptographic currencies area to reach the platform. If this is the case, there will inevitably be more people from different niches and if one day SteemIt should outperform all the other social networks like Facebook and co., then everything the world has to offer will be represented here.
However, this vision is still in the future and since YOU are already active on SteemIt and don't want to wait, let's see what you can do to make our niche more successful!
What can we do NOW?
Too few active users in your niche:
Invite more people from your private environment to SteemIt, especially those who share your interest in your niche. More active people in your niche will inevitably lead to more upvotes and a higher payout, which in turn provides more motivation to keep people active. We've had enough dead fish in the SteemIt-Ocean by now!
Investing in the platform:
Those who are active on SteemIt have recognized the potential of Steem; both the possibility of earning money, the potential growth of Steem and the possibility to be the strongest social network in a few years!
So also invest time in the platform, post daily, comment your feed and followers and especially your niche.
Also invests money in the platform for SteemPower to have more impact on the platform and in your niche. More SteemPower means higher upvotes means more motivation for others. If they follow your example and everyone buys some SteemPower, your niche will soon become much stronger.
Creates a community:
One for all and all for one!
Set up a Discord server for your niche to maintain closer contact with the members in your niche. This will lead to friendships and a stronger sense of community. Consider what you can do to move your niche forward and in the long run you will be more successful. Hard work is always part of the job if you want to reap long-term success.
Summary:
Be yourself the change you want for your niche!

Nothing comes from nothing, so work, time and money has to be invested in SteemIt.
Support your niche with upvotes and comments to keep the few little users motivated and see that their hard work doesn't go unrewarded.
Invite your friends so that the community grows bigger, which in turn attracts more people to SteemIt.
Invite in particular people who are familiar with your niche to expand your niche.
Build a community, exchange ideas, build friendships so you can draw attention together to your niche.
Write in the comments if you have any further ideas, so I can add to the list!

I'm currently publishing daily in a poetry niche, and I haven't even had time to check out my tag.
I'll be looking into that in no time.
Tags are very important to make your posts succeed
Yes they are. I've also discovered the importance of having a brand.
A unique tag that describes your niche. A tag that's used by you alone.
i whole heartedly agree.

Someone said ”build it and they will come” - I have a feeling it referred to the development of Las Vegas?
Anyway, Steemit currently has 500K active users across all categories, and as Booster916 rightly suggests, it tends to be genetically crytptocentric. That’s clearly where the majority of influence is and that’s fine, because they build it and we came.
But 500K across every subject? A decent Photoshop Tutorial Channel on a famous video website would have 500K subscribers. One channel amongst many in a niche part of a niche subject. What I’m saying is, the upside for Steemit growth across every subject is unimaginable.
As an example, the #Motorcycle universe across the internet is huge, yet here on Steemit at the moment, the #Motorcycle footprint is light. That will change, and we can help change it along.
We don’t even need to Build It for them to come, but, it would be good, and more attractive for them, if we could have the basic infrastructure in place to greet them on arrival.
This is too long for a comment - sorry - but ideas are brewing and perhaps discord is possibly the place to take the conversation?
Riding and smiling as always ….. Geoff
There are no comments that are too big. Just Jerry Banfield killing it with a post with 60.000 words... nvm
Sure we do not need to build an attractive place for them because steemit is there, but they need to find it, discover it and they need to find it for good and we can actively influence that. The motorcycle riders will join one after the other in the long run and that will boost steemit and the motorcycle niche
Exactly, it’s been built, but I suspect that in comparison to their comfortable
Forums many motorcyclists might find Steemit a little daunting. Maybe as we reach out to draw the motorcycle community here, it would be nice to be able to provide them with an easy to follow Map?
Not a How To Steemit, but something as simple as a list of motorcycle centric hashtags so they can have a comfortable landing amongst kindred spirits. Perhaps an Arrivals Lounge like you’re building with SteemMotorcycle on discord. To which, I’ll add more when the coffee begins working.
….. Geoff (60K Words? That's not a Comment, it's one third of War & Peace.
Steem is the bockchain and steemit is just one of many possibilities to use it. There are many other d-apps and there is also a chainbb.com, a steembased forum so people who like a forum more, can also join and profit
Thanks @booster916 .. so much to learn, and hopefully at my age, enough time to do it.
I have noticed that some niches are much more profitable (in terms of engagement and money) than others in just my short time here. I would really like to blog more about parenting, marriage, and life in general, but it doesn't seem there is much audience for that on Steemit yet. I'm going to keep chugging along though, since I figure that when those niches DO become more popular, I will already have quality content out in them. Maybe I'll even become an Steemit authority on my favorite niches! :)
I would recommend you to write in your niches even if they is not a big audience. But additionally write about some other things, where the audience is bigger and you gain more followers, which will get maybe interested in your posts in your niches. On the long run many people will join and you will get your niches full with people and when you are already a SteemIt-authority in these niches, that will be a big plus
Make your own niche and own it! Everyone is unique and has something amazing to offer Steemit that is what makes it so wonderful.
It is not easy but when there is a powerfull will, there is also a way
