# Misconception of Shiva Lingam -
Lord Shiva is symbolized with Shiva Lingam. The word “Lingum” in Sanskrit means ‘Penis’. The people of Hindu community celebrate the festival and use the statue of Shivaling. They thought that it has some spiritual power to change people’s lifestyle honest, happy and dedicated to the creator.
Shivalinga is not just a Hindu concept. But the concept of shivalinga is misunderstood. The Lingam symbolizes both the creative and destructive power of Lord Shiva and great sanctity. The practice of worshipping Shiva lingam as the holy symbol of Lord Shiva has been from time immemorial. The statutes of Shiva Lingams were found in the archeological findings in Babylon, a city of ancient Mesopotamia. The history of the statue is not today’s, it is prehistoric matter.
