About Year 2017 - Staying in touch

I know we are already in the second month of the year 2017, but someone like me can't stop thinking about how 2017 was.

I made so many decisions that started out a whole new chapter in my life. Two major decisions I made were 1). Resigning from a volunteer job I loved so much (I am still in touch with them though... you can check out www.lifegiva.com); and 2). Ending a love relationship (this one was quite a blow to my health...even though I was the one that initiated the break up)

Resigning from the volunteer job was because I needed to boost my finances, hence, the need for a paying job. I job hunted for eight months in 2017. It wasn't a frustrating journey, on the contrary. It was lit; meeting new minds and getting engaged in improving my career worth, and so on. I'm still job hunting at the moment though. But I'm getting close to settling on a promising one.

The love relationship story - I know you've been waiting for me to come to that...

A number of us would agree that the generation or era we are in lacks healthy communication. This isn't about been so busy and not knowing how to plan or balance work/ career and family/ love life. This is really about the understanding that despite the numerous activities calling for our attention, we do not lose sight of the need to "stay in touch" with our personal lives that consist of people that "matter to us". Thus, my reason for ending the relationship.

However, it turns out that the red flag I spotted in my relationship was in fact a big problem I encountered with a lot of people all through 2017. At first I thought maybe I am not trying hard enough to understand people. But it turns out that wasn't the case at all. Over the years, so many things have helped to take care of "keeping in touch", but sadly, these gadgets can't help us "stay in touch" with our world.

I sought so hard to find a mother/ father that can communicate her thoughts to her son/ daughter. I searched for friends who can beat their chests in affirmation of the strength of their friendship as a result of a healthy communication. But unfortunately, it seems quite a number of us need to take up courses and get skilled up in knowing how to "stay in touch".
