Thoughts on Choice Theory. What do you think?steemCreated with Sketch.

Axiom #1: The only person's behavior you can control is your own behavior. You are responsible only for your own action and the consequences thereof.

Implication: It is a tremendous waste of psychic energy to be self-hating and self-destructive by vice of what others think. The truth is nobody in this world has any idea what is really going on. The ultimate reality is attainable through meditation, when the mind has settled into placid calm. The mind is like space which contains everything in the universe. Precisely because of this property-lessness of space, space can 'afford' to be a container for everything. It's similar to the way we see. We can have vision because the lens of our eye is clear. If it were not for the invisibility of the lens then we would not know the gorgeous variations of color or shape, the form of reality. As the fundamental principle of Buddhism states, "that which is void is form, and that which is form is precisely void". They imply each other. The difference is the unity. This is it. Nirvana is Now.

Axiom #2: The only thing human beings can really give one another is information.

Information is not exclusive to the domain of the invisible data swarms that comprise the internet for example. In other words, information does not refer solely to that which we cannot see. Information is everything we see and cannot see. Long ago, physicists found out after an exhaustive search for something called 'matter', that matter doesn't exist. What does exist however they say is form. What matters in other words is not matter, because it's all a matter of form! It is the shape, the pattern by which substance, solid only for a short time, is formed that has become relevant to our understanding of the cosmos. The cosmos is a dancing of patterns, infinitely elaborated fractally forever. And that's the real you.

I want to suggest that by understanding that the only thing we can truly give each other is information, we can respect and love each far more than we currently seem able if we keep this in mind during our social interactions. For if we understand that information is primary, then we will not bother wasting other people's time by talking gibberish just to be talking gibberish. This doesn't mean that we ought to become utilitarian in our conversations, saying only what we presume is 'useful' or 'profitable'. In conversation, I believe it is always the style in which it is done that far outweighs in importance than the actual content of the conversation. The style is superior to the content. As one of my favorite intellectuals Terence Mckenna once said, "if you have no taste, then God help you!" The aesthetic quality of discourse is probably more important than what is actually being said I would say. People like Gabor Mate, although they really do have some very interesting things to say, despite the actual content of their message, they massage you into peace by virtue of the quality of their voice. The voice is very important.

So information includes all these different aspects of dialogue. From what is being said, honoring and respecting the time of your audience to beautifying your speech or writing, the style in which it is given. They say you can discover a great deal about a person by the way they keep their lawn or room. An orderly living environment reflects an orderly mind suggests Jordan Peterson over on youtube. I want to suggest that far more revealing about the character of a personality is the style in which they present themselves in communication with others.

We want to create a beautiful world. We do that by beginning with ourselves.
Seek to beautify your existence. It starts in the mind.
