Why? Self respect or disrespect?
I was wondering why so many in our present society feel good about living off the charity of others. Do they have no shame or no pride in themselves? I have donated to lots of charity because I know there are many out there that are truly in need. I have also noticed that many make a life style of living off charities. What do we teach our children. They do as they as they see, the children believe what they are taught in school. Have they heard that there is no shame in being poor? Christ said we would have the poor with us alway. Why are they poor? Lazy? Ignorant? No respect for themselves or others? Egos that say to them that they are smarter than those that work? Why work when people will give it to you what you need for free. This attitude cheats those truly needy. Shame is a valuable social function when not taken too far. Shame on you for not putting out quality. Shame on you for cheating. Shame on you for being lazy. I think greed has taken over the hearts of too many people instead of pride and self respect. I have no answers just a lot of question that keep me wondering about our social change. Maybe lack of family ties, maybe lack of mothers at home. Is our social structure being manipulated to produce consumers. This is a deep rabbit hole. I have not the time to research to come up with a good conclusion. I just wonder.
Who are you talking about? Most people don't live off the charity of others.
