I made 3.02$ in the last 7 days from my comments alone!!
Yeah you heard it right.
I comment a lot, and today I added up the pending payouts of the last seven days from my comments and it amounted to 3.02$!!!
My highest one was of 0.29$
So guys, comments are very important to keep the conversation alive.

There is. The comment and the post reward pool are the same right now. A separate comment reward pool will be formed in the next hardfork😊

It was planned for HF17 but cancelled for being contentious.
So it might never be implemented?

Its the only thing I think that can increase interaction between users. If it had been implemented, it would have helped steem a lot though :)
The next hard fork will include a linearization of the reward pool. Since the main problem with comments is the r^2 system, the problem may be solved by that alone. We'll see how it goes.
Let's hope for the best. If in the end steemit gets better I am fine with it no matter what new thing is implemented!

A few days before hardfork yeah. But it's pretty much the same now.
Getting comments really helps the author let people know someone read their stuff... and it's not just bot upvotes. :) I'm not a bot. I read your stuff. :)
I wish more people would comment. I only seem to get the same 5 or 6 people commenting on my postsss :(
Yeah. Commenting is very useful to interact with users since we don't have a dm system in steemit.

It could and should be higher though. Comments still take a tiny portion of the rewards.
