Importance of Leaving a Comment with Substance

I usually use the tagline ”You are important to me” recently in all of my blogs or posts. That part is actually my way of encouraging my readers or followers to share their thoughts, ideas, additional inputs, suggestions, etc. Every single comment brings joy to me as a writer here and every single comment is IMPORTANT for my development and motivation.

I don’t know if we have the same thoughts but I believe that comments have the following importance:

Engages the platform users

This must be on top of the importance of comments.

Some of the people in our community have different way of engaging. There are many ways of communicating to the whole community or to your own community. In fact, some leaders are initiating engagements in discord channels. However, I still believe in the beauty of commenting to the actual posts.

Commenting is just one way of engaging in the community. There are still many ways to be engaged here like constantly making blogs with quality contents, etc.

Showing support to the quality content creators

Everytime I write I always think of how to give an impact to the community and I know there are still a many steemians who are concerned of making impact. I usually check the number of people who have seen my post and the number of people who have commented.

All of those are really a motivation for me to keep going. I don’t mind of the possible pay-out for the next seven days, I always mind of how I have reached out to the community, how did I make a valuable post to the platform and to the lives of its users.

Comments show support to the writers but it’s sometimes a ”spam”. Spam literally means irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent to a user. It may be hurtful to say that comments like “Nice post”/ “Good post”, and the likes are spam. As a writer, I am always thankful to those who have commented even with those “nice/good posts” comments however, when I read those I can always ask myself, “Did I really achieve my purpose of writing this?”.

Comments mentioned above can somehow motivate but can never help the writers in assessing if the purpose or goal of the blog was met.

To show support to the writer, I highly recommend you to leave comments that is related to the post, may it be a compliment or a positive critique. In this way, we have given our 100% support to the writers.

Promotion of yourself

If this sounds desperate to you then, it’s all up to you. But I really found commenting as promotion of oneself.

Leaving comments with substance is promoting yourself as a writer. This is one way of helping the community in noticing you. When a writer is fascinated by the impact of the comment itself, then there is a percentage that that writer will visit your blogs because of the impression that you have given through your comment.

Compliments or a Positive critique can’t usually attract the writer to follow you/follow you back. I somehow see it only as a motivation of the writer to keep posting related articles or keep developing his/her blogs.

Providing ADDITIONAL information is a way better to self-promotion because it can somehow communicate to the writer that you have the same interests or you have also into that kind of study and whatsoever.

Shows Quality Contents are not yet surpassed by Bid Bots

There are many bid bots in our community right now and it is actually leading us to misunderstand the beauty of the platform. Bid bots are helpful but are subject for abuses and I still don’t recommend this.Seeing posts with high pending pay-outs because of bid bots are giving a negative impression to steemians especially to those who have just started steeming. This may also be a factor of inactivity of some steemians, thinking that there quality posts will never be noticed if they will never risk in bots bidding. This is always painful.

Leaving a comment with a substance is encouraging the new and old steemians to keep steeming and to keep on making quality contents. Please help me in encouraging everyone to leave substantial comments to remind them that there are still many valuable steemians, there are still many quality content creators, and BID BOTS can NEVER surpass QUALITY.
