Biblegateway's Steemit Spamming (My Take On It)
If you don't know what Biblegateway is, it is a website that makes the Bible searchable and available in several different languages and versions. It has been repeatedly flagged for spamming, mainly by commenting "God bless you" on random posts, most of which have nothing to do with Christianity. This seems to be the only thing the account says.
Christians can use unconventional or niche platforms for their ministry, but Steemit doesn't seem like that effective of a platform to build a ministry. For one, it's so overrun by bots that genuine interactions are actually quite rare and, for another, spamming "God bless you" isn't a genuine interaction. Ministry thrives on connecting with others, sharing experiences, and cultivating mutual respect. The person(s) behind the Bible Gateway Steemit account did anything but that.
On the official site, Bible Gateway doesn't link to their Steemit, which leads me to believe that this is an unofficial or "fan" account that uses a bless bot. On the other hand, this account could be a parody account that represents the concept of a "Christian" that spouts entire chapters of the Bible, but displays behaviors that are antithetical to the main teachings of Christianity. Steemian @david777111 is an excellent example of a Christian between his efforts to recreate the Garden of Eden and honest concern about the world around him.
If you get a "God Bless You" from this account, it's spam and not a genuine blessing.
