I have done a Kickstarter once before but had absolutely no idea what I was doing at that time! haha! I did more research this time around. The main thing is to make sure you have all of your finances in line for what you need for fulfillment. As for building a crowd, just putting it out there as much as possible. That is why I am doing the "lead up" posts, so people are aware when it is ready to launch. Honestly, Steemit is one of the better and more engaging communities for art that I have seen, so your audience here may be enough to help you get it funded!
